One of the biggest urban dead zones in Downtown LA is a vast 3-acre surface helicopter tours las vegas grand canyon parking lot just south of Bottega helicopter tours las vegas grand canyon Louie (voted most popular restaurant in the nation on Yelp in 2011) bounded helicopter tours las vegas grand canyon by Grand, 8th, and Olive St. As you might remember, developer Sonny Astani (Concerto, Vero, etc.) was supposed to develop an audacious 875-unit helicopter tours las vegas grand canyon three-phase project called Opus back in 2006 before the economic recession helicopter tours las vegas grand canyon hit. Obviously that didn t happen, but now the new owners/developers, Carmel Partners from San Francisco who purchased the entitled land from Astani for $63 million back in June 2012 are planning helicopter tours las vegas grand canyon to break ground soon on a scaled back version that will still have a tremendous impact on the development of Downtown LA.
Green tarp fencing the exciting tell-tale sign of construction went up earlier this week surrounding helicopter tours las vegas grand canyon the entire perimeter block, which is larger than two football fields combined. As another sign that groundbreaking is imminent, monthly parking passes were apparently discontinued at the surface lot.
The new version from Carmel Partners (seen in the rendering below) will have 700 luxury rental units over a substantial amount of commercial retail space. According to the LA Times , the project will also have a 40-foot rooftop pool on the 8th floor that will be surrounded by cabanas and a lounge with a barbecue. The relatively large rooftop pool is part of the reason why the construction of the building will comprise of concrete and steel (Type-I) instead of using a wood frame model.
The positive impact this project will have for Downtown LA will be tremendous. Not only will it add about another 1,000 residents to the downtown population, but the added retail and restaurants that are likely to wrap around the base of the project, will activate the sidewalks and help tie together the Financial helicopter tours las vegas grand canyon District with South Park and the Historic Core, which are all currently severed from each other, limiting any potential synergy between the districts. helicopter tours las vegas grand canyon What are currently empty sidewalks now in the area devoid of life will eventually be filled with vibrant pedestrian activity when the mixed-use project is fully completed helicopter tours las vegas grand canyon and leased up.

I m sorry but I dont like it. It s another example of poor planning. Although the scale of this project is probably in line with current demand, in 20 years city planners helicopter tours las vegas grand canyon will be kicking themselves for allowing this project to use so much real estate. If this project is being built with steel it should have been stacked higher and some of the surrounding real estate conserved for future development. For me, its the footprint of the building that s at issue. I m not necessarily a high rise fanatic, but a low rise project like this should be built in Little Tokyo, Arts District or in Washington Square but not smack in the middle of Downtown. What will happen is that when the office market picks up steam and there isnt enough real estate to build new office towers, or units to house workers filling those towers then this project will, unfortunately, need to be torn down to meet future demand. For now, it will be a lovely addition to this part of the city, and will certainly activate the street but I would not want to be a tenant of this building 15 years from now.
So, you have the opportunity to build something in downtown LA which could have the possibility of standing for hundreds of years, your name and reputation are on the line and history helicopter tours las vegas grand canyon will judge you (along with the present too) .and this is what they come up with. How pathetic.
Agreed with all the above comments. Plus can we discuss the way this rendering highlights a massive open parking lot in the foreground? Showcasing that as their vision for Downtown is pretty weak to put it nicely. I m glad something is being done with this massive dead zone (nicely put, Brigham), but it leaves nearly everything to be desired.
I don t have a major issue with this project. I think its good density for the area and design wise it s safe, but not bad either. It would be nice if it was taller, but it s not as if there isn t a precedent for buildings of this height in the area. The key for me is street level activation which this project will provide given the large amount helicopter tours las vegas grand canyon of square footage being provided for retail helicopter tours las vegas grand canyon uses.
I m in my 50s and recall going to downtown LA around 1979. Back then and I still remember the specific day that I estimated it would take decades of progress before the area was a satisfying place to work in, much less to call home. At that time, almost nobody took seriously the idea that central LA was a good place to locate one s residence.
The hunch I had back in the late 1970s existed far before some very impressive changes, which have since occurred, were anything helicopter tours las vegas grand canyon more than a pipe dream. And so, here it is over 30 years later and our city s original helicopter tours las vegas grand canyon center still has more than a few pockets that are in dire need of infill development or plenty of elbow grease.
If the past 30 years are a good indicator, I don t think it s a stretch to predict that it will take another 30 years before downtown LA is so nice that it s impossible to grumble helicopter tours las vegas grand canyon about it. So people who are justified in thinking Opus is a lost opportunity either aren t alive today or, if they re alive and well right now and will be for the next few decades, will be merely one voice among many of those still hesitant about whether downtown has progressed far enough.
You make some very good points but I will still agree with the many here who believe there should have been something much taller and denser in this area. Yes, it s true that there will be many more infill locations to build in the future when the time and economy warrants it, however, that is not more like PROGRESSIVE planning instead of STRATEGIC planning. Your idea reminds me of the way we have always done things in Los Angeles, which is more aligned to an ad-hoc approach than building things in a planned and strategic way. What do I mean by this? Well, take a look around us, are you only seeing what you can compare with from the past? Well, we have new people here now living in downtown and many folks just starting their lives. What could have stopped us from building even taller or better spatial arrangements helicopter tours las vegas grand canyon from the past? It s called past leadership and the status quo.
I see Los Angeles helicopter tours las vegas grand canyon coming out of an old phase and starting a new one. This time around however, I think we should try better and stop thinking like the status helicopter tours las vegas grand canyon quo. This location could have had so many options, including a taller structure. Instead, the risk assessment of the developer/banks and the vision of city leadership has brought us this downscaled 8 story box. Poor planning in my opinion as well. My biggest issue is the structural density of this building, which could have been built to last even for 100 years if built correctly (such as taller, denser, and multiple floor commercial/retail). Perhaps the current market won t support this, and that is why I believe it should have been built in phases with a smaller land footprint like others have mentioned, so that the property could accomodate future growth later on.
I m glad this is coming, we desperately need more apartments and that part of downtown helicopter tours las vegas grand canyon is wasteland of parking lots. That said, it does feel like something of a missed helicopter tours las vegas grand canyon opportunity. But given the current economics, I d rather have this than nothing or waiting another 5 years for something to start. I m not a huge fan of the design, which feels more Santa Monica than downtown to me, and I wish it were larger, but I ll take it.
The upcoming building at 9th and Olive will be 32 stories. Nothing wrong with mixing it up. I love seeing some sky just not from a parking lot! There are countless parking lots still to be developed. If this building leases helicopter tours las vegas grand canyon out ground floor space to some interesting retail, it will be worth what it lacks in height. 1,000 new residents is pretty decent.
exactly. Seattle, SF, Boston, etc all do a great job of mixing up heights of the buildings. I would LOVE the original helicopter tours las vegas grand canyon Opus project as that was my favorite of all DT projects, but this is still pretty good. Thankfully, they are using quality materials instead of stucco.
There are buildings that last 100 plus years and there are buildings that last 20-30 years, helicopter tours las vegas grand canyon In this Economy there is room for only this, but in 20-30 years this will be buldozed for a much bigger project, that s how it works. Look at the history of buildings in downtown which ones last more than 100 years and which ones don t for example ( The Wilshire Grand) This will not be a landmark this is only a 20-30 year investment, and then will be buldozed for a skyscrapper hotel 70 stories helicopter tours las vegas grand canyon high like the new hotel they re going to build, but for now just enjoy it.
Lets just hope careful thought has gone into soundproofing the individual units. I would not want to hear my neighbors activities above or beside me. Also, 3 or 4 mixed use towers should have been built but anything is better than a rundown parking lot.
These comments are amazing. 200+ units per acre is far from low density. It s very similar to what exists on the Evo/Luma/Elleven block on a nearly identical property size. It s very high intensity and 1,000 residents per 3 acres works out to 200,000 people helicopter tours las vegas grand canyon per square mile!
Most of these comments are out to lunch. Half the high rises that went up recently were in receivership or foreclosed on because they were too expensive. I m guessing the height is what it is due to economics.
I completelty agree. People are always helicopter tours las vegas grand canyon saying well the market helicopter tours las vegas grand canyon wont allow it for now so this is all we have right now well like Tony said they could have stacked helicopter tours las vegas grand canyon floors to make this taller and save m

Inside, the minimalist, eccentric decor combined with the sounds of indie bands and old favorites — a mix of Foster the People and Beach House interspersed with The Velvet Underground and Bob Dylan — gives the store a laid-back, effortlessly cool vibe. Even the displays in the store are artistically edgy and animalistic. A ring can be found in the open mouth of an alligator, a necklace hanging from the antlers of a deer.
Each piece in the store is handcrafted from ecologically sound, recycled silver and pure 14-karat gold. The quality of the jewelry is undeniable, but it is the designs that make the pieces unforgettable.

Each month, Verameat hosts a store party at their location in Beverly Hills. At this time, Verameat fans can take advantage of discounts on the jewelry and mingle with others who like to indulge their quirky side. With the Verameat jewelry, known for its tendency to function as an icebreaker cheap tickets to jacksonville florida and hanging off every corner of the small, chic store, there's likely to be some great conversations to be had — and maybe even some celebrity sightings. Of course, some of the items, such as the "Dino Love Bone" necklace, costing $320, might be a one-time splurge. Still, many of the pieces, such as the "Screw" ring, at only $20, are at a much more accessible price point.

The U.S. District Courts order that moves the deadline from June to December also demands California divulge whether it intends to file a motion to cease federal oversight of its prison healthcare system. The state in early January filed such an action to end oversight of the care given to mentally ill inmates, and Gov. Jerry Brown had vowed to seek a similar end to healthcare oversight as well. In the meantime, the judges put California's motion to dismiss prison population caps altogether on hold.
Last week, one of those judges also ordered the state to produce details of its plans to return some 9,000 prisoners now housed in private prisons out of state, and to tell the court where it intends discount rental couponscar rentals to house them.
California contends it no longer needs to meet court-ordered population caps in order to provide adequate care to inmates. In multiple discount rental couponscar rentals orders, the judges have insisted the state reduce prison crowding to 37.5% above capacity, or to about 110,000 inmates. California discount rental couponscar rentals is currently at nearly 150% of capacity.
Lawyers for inmates in the class-action lawsuits complain California s bid to rid itself discount rental couponscar rentals of federal oversight came without discount rental couponscar rentals warning. California last fall blocked efforts by plaintiffs to gather information on how the state was planning discount rental couponscar rentals for prison population changes, saying such fact-finding was premature. Inmate lawyers discount rental couponscar rentals have told judges they now are hard-pressed to conduct discovery and gather evidence in the three months allowed under federal law.
They started a war basically. It was a surprise attack, said Don Specter, lead attorney for the Prison Law Office. The Berkeley firm is handling a 12-year-old inmate class action against the state over prison medical care.

I would have to say that the level of service that we provide at Hotel Bel-Air is at the highest level ... our guests reflect the highest end of the luxury travel market ... Expectations are high, and it's a concierge's job to exceed them.

A lovely 2.6 mile loop in a park in the heart of L.A. sprawl. On clear days, this trail offers outstanding views of downtown, the San Gabriels, the Hollywood tokyo cheap hotels Hills, tokyo cheap hotels and beyond and otherwise this park has wonderful bird-watching, surprisingly secluded and shaded trails, and lots of open green-space. This is a great little park that deserves a visit, especially if your experience is limited to racing through it on your way to LAX.
- How To get There: From the west, take the 10 and get off at the La Cienega Blvd. exit. From the east, take the exit for Washington Blvd. / Fairfax Ave. and continue on Washington for about a half mile before turning south onto La Cienega. Continue on La Cienega for 1.4 miles and take the exit for the Kenneth Hahn State Recreation Area. In the park, continue driving past the playground, pond, and community tokyo cheap hotels center and up a hill to the parking area near Janice s Green Valley (you ll see some bathrooms and another play / picnic area near the parking lot). Park your car and head toward the Green Valley tokyo cheap hotels to begin the trail. Car entrance to the park costs $6 at time of writing.
Public Transit Directions On weekends and holidays from 8AM to 6PM, a shuttle will travel every 20 minutes between the Expo Line La Cienega Station , Kenneth Hahn State Park, and the nearby Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook. Fare is 25 cents.
If you re like me, you ve driven through Kenneth Hahn State Recreation Area dozens and dozens of times on your way to catch a flight at LAX and never even considered actually tokyo cheap hotels going into the park. You see the La Cienega highway that runs through it (part of a thankfully aborted project to run freeway all the way north through Laurel Canyon ) and the oil rigs at the Inglewood Oil Field and can t even imagine why anyone would want to put a park there and you re doing yourself a great disservice.
Kenneth Hahn is 401 acres of greenspace in an especially tokyo cheap hotels park-starved area of our already park-poor city that also happens to be home to a surprising amount of L.A. history. Tongva natives lived here for 8,000 years before it was incorporated into Spanish ranchland. For the 1932 Olympics, the park was the site of the very first Olympic Village ever built. A reservoir was built here in the 40s, and in 1963 the dam collapsed, flooding the Baldwin Hills neighborhood below and KTLA s coverage of the disaster was the first time helicopter tokyo cheap hotels footage was broadcast live on television. Today, it s the park where people can take super-clear photos of downtown L.A. with the snow-capped San Gabriels behind it:
After you arrive in the upper lot, head toward tokyo cheap hotels the large open space known as Janice s Green Valley. After being shocked at seeing what s probably one of the largest if not THE largest open green spaces in Los Angeles, begin your hike on the path in a counterlockwise direction.
If you re lucky, you ll get enough quiet here to enjoy the birdsong tokyo cheap hotels that seems to fill the air. If you re interested in our avian friends, the Los Angeles chapter of the Audubon Society tokyo cheap hotels hosts a free Birdwalk in this park on the third Saturday of every month (except for July and August). The walk lasts from 8 to 11:30AM and you can find more information on their web site .
In about 0.3 miles, you ll come across a plaque indicating this bucolic green space is the site of the former Baldwin Hills Reservoir, which dumped 292 million gallons of water into the neighborhood below in December of 1963, killing 5 and destroying or damaging nearly 300 homes. Continue past this marker until the 0.6 mile mark, where you ll turn right onto the dirt Diane s Trail. Keep left at the fork to avoid the locked gate for the radio towers and get ready to experience some really beautiful single track as the trail passes through large groves of prickly pears and eventually starts to open up to some great views northward.
Now, it is true that for large sections of this hike, the Inglewood Oil Field will be visible. In some parts of the lower park, you ll even be able to hear the machinery. tokyo cheap hotels So if that s the sort of thing that s going to completely ruin your day, you might not want to head to this park. But if you can look past that grossness, you might be lucky enough to see the Santa Monica Mountains and the Pacific Ocean behind them.
Continue until about 0.8 miles, where a marked but unsigned trail leaves the broader, more well-traveled Diane s Trail. Take a sharp right onto this to join the City View Trail, even though it looks like it just leaves the park.
This short side-trail loops through some very nice, shaded areas with some small eucalyptus trees before tracing a ridge that really opens up with some spectacular views of the Hollywood Hills and San Gabriels to the north.
At the 1.1 mile mark, the City View Trail meets back up with Diane s Trail right near the Autumn s Peak overlook area. Stay on the City View Trail as it makes a short descent directly below Diane s Trail and heads west toward another forested area and make sure to enjoy the nearly panoramic views from here.
At about the 1.2 mile mark, the City View Trail rejoins the main route in a large 5-way junction with several other trails and use-trails. Stay to the far right to descend on the Forest Trail, which wraps around the geography of the park s northern section before turning south into a small Japanese garden with an artificial waterfall.
From here, go beneath the red gate and stay on the sidewalk as the path takes you into Doris Japanese Garden a small but well-kept landscaped area that also appears to be a popular spot for wedding, tokyo cheap hotels prom, and quinceañera photos. Stroll through this area and continue along the roadway or look for a short parallel trail through the trees just to the east of the restrooms (look for a small brown bridge).
tokyo cheap hotels From here, the Community Loop Trail continues on sidewalk and along the street back up to the parking lot, but if you re intent on staying on trails there are a few use-trails and fire roads that will ascend from here back up to Diane s Trail. If you want to stay on the official tokyo cheap hotels route, continue along the park roads, walking through Gwen Moore Lake and along an artificial babbling brook. The water features may be man-made, but when I was there they were full of ducks, geese, and herons.
I love hiking in this park after work, as I live within walking distance (although getting there by walking is nearly impossible if you want to avoid getting hit by the traffic on La Cienega). The views are gorgeous, tokyo cheap hotels and it s a great local spot away from the Hollywood Runyon Canyon types. On a typical day here you ll see just your average neighbor or dog-owner hiking to get healthy or enjoy nature. I actually enjoy seeing the oil derricks, tokyo cheap hotels too, just for the sake of variety-where else can you see the ocean, oil fields, downtown LA, and a Japanese garden all in one hike? I also like that you can easily create your own adventure; once you get to know the park, the trails all sort of lead to the same places.
Main emphasis I would make is that, when you re heading tokyo cheap hotels south on La Cienega, it really is freeway-like, and the exit for the park will be on your RIGHT. I was expecting to just make a left into the park, so the ramp to the right was a sudden surprise.

Lindsay Lohan s new attorney, Mark Heller, is already spinning out the idea that his client s actions don t amount to a crime worthy of jail time and that there are better ways to address underlying problems.
Heller cincinnati hotel on Wednesday formally replaced Shawn Holley as Lohan s lawyer in Los Angeles, where she faces three misdemeanor charges. Santa Monica prosecutors allege she lied when she said she wasn t driving her Porsche when it rear-ended a truck on Pacific Coast Highway.

In court, Heller tried to play up his New York roots with Judge Stephanie Sautner, saying in a thick New York accent that it was a great honor to appear in her court. He referenced Sautner s previous work as a New York City police detective.
The judge was not in a joking mood but did remark cincinnati hotel to Lohan that she was glad the actress was feeling better. Lohan had previously submitted paperwork to the court saying she was too ill to travel from

I mentioned it briefly in the calendar of art events 2013 in Ireland - this year artworks will be swapped again between the National Gallery american express platinum travel in London and Dublin's Municipal Gallery. A curious event that happens every six years. But just why? Well, blame the Germans. Or rather Kapitnleutnant Walther Schwieger, a u-boat ace notorious for his sinking of ocean liners. Amongst which the Lusitania.
american express platinum travel It was the sinking of the RMS Lusitania that led to the moving artworks of Dublin and London. Because the original owner, Hugh Lane, had left his collection to London, but later decided that Dublin was a better place for them. Unfortunately, the will to this effect had not yet been properly witnessed when a torpedo hit the Lusitania and Hugh Lane went down with her. So, by law the collection belongs to London. But it was Hugh Lane's expressed intention, that Dublin american express platinum travel should benefit. In a Solomonic compromise they collection was split in two, to be rotated.

The optional tour of Muckross House was fantastic. It is an 18th century house on 20,000 acres of park. Mountains provide a beautiful backdrop to the house, which is surrounded by equally beautiful gardens. It is absolutely gorgeous! I highly recommend this optional and am so glad we went!
Next up was a trip around the Ring of Kerry. Unfortunately it was a foggy day with some drizzly rain but the beauty of the cliffs, mountains and rugged coastlines was fully visible. The rain served to create an abundance of spectacular, cascading waterfalls san diego airport to lax car rental such as Torc Falls in Killarney National Park, normally just a trickle of a waterfall. What an amazing site! A must see!
Our Be My Guest dinner was at the farmhouse of an Irish family at Muckross Traditional Farms. This experience was a true gem and a highlight of the trip! We were taken back to a time before electricity was used to work the farm. All work is done by traditional methods using traditional farm machinery and animals. The farm also has a couple of Irish wolfhounds, so cute! We enjoyed fresh bread and butter, traditional Irish stew, potatoes, veggies, bread pudding and Irish coffee. We were entertained with traditional Irish music, with harp and penny-whistle. The entire group joined the musicians in a fun Irish sing-along! What a fabulous evening! It doesn't get any more "traditionally Irish" than this!
On to Limerick, with stops in a very pretty town called Adare and King John's Castle along the Shannon River. We visited Bunratty Castle and Folk Park. We loved the beautiful view of the gorgeous green landscape and rivers from top of Castle. Many went on an optional excursion to Shannon Castle for a medieval feast. We met the rest of our group later at the hotel bar. They had a great time and enjoyed san diego airport to lax car rental their medieval dinner experience!
Off to the Cliffs of Moher! The Cliffs are simply magnificent. Galway Bay and the Arran Islands are lovely! Next we were off to busy, bustling Galway. Before heading to Sligo we stopped in at the Cathedral, decorated with Connemara Marble and Canadian wood. Along the way we had a quick stop at the village of Knock, where the Virgin Mary allegedly appeared to locals in the 19 th century. Upon arrival at the Sligo Park Hotel we enjoyed a Guinness in the hotel bar. We had dinner in our hotel with the entire group tonight. After a lovely dinner we headed to the hotel bar to enjoy some Irish music.
Next we were off to beautiful san diego airport to lax car rental Donegal, with a stop in Ardara on the way. We saw a Local Specialty san diego airport to lax car rental demonstration at Triona Designs, a family business working loom. All handmade quality products in vibrant colours. We just had to buy a few things here! We went to Donegal for lunch and after a quick walk through the Abbey graveyard it was back to Sligo. That evening was our Dining Driving optional excursion. We were so glad we didn't miss this one! It was unbelievable! We stopped at Mullaghmore san diego airport to lax car rental and Classie Bown fishing villages on the way to dinner. I have no words to describe the beauty san diego airport to lax car rental of these places! We dined at Harrison's Bar Restaurant. The staff were very sweet and our meal was incredible! Sligo beef with mashed potatoes and whiskey mushroom sauce. Wonderful!
Heading back to Dublin means that we're nearing the end of our trip. We're already feeling san diego airport to lax car rental sad; we don't want to leave this wonderful san diego airport to lax car rental country san diego airport to lax car rental with its stunning landscape, Hidden Treasures and incredible people!
There were several lovely stops along the road to Dublin including a Hidden Treasure at Tobernalt (a holy well) a wonderful, peaceful and spiritual place. We saw a Chieftain Warrior sculpture, the Boyle Abbey Ruins and Carrick-on-Shannon.
We wandered the streets of this lovely wee town and enjoyed tea and scones with the locals in a teahouse. Back in Dublin we head to Grafton Street for some last minute shopping (it's Sunday and Grafton St. is bustling and alive with people, shoppers, street san diego airport to lax car rental musicians and entertainers!) On our way, we stopped for a pint of Guinness at Dawson's Lounge! Remember? A tiny Hidden Treasure ….don't miss it!
Our last supper in Ireland was our Farewell Dinner at O'Connell's in Donnybrook. Back at the hotel most of the group headed san diego airport to lax car rental straight to the hotel bar, not ready to say goodbye or goodnight yet! There was an impromptu jam session by a group of musicians from Norway; also hotel guests. We discovered a true Hidden Treasure when one of our own suddenly gets up to sing with them! What a way to end the holiday!
We said our goodbyes to our friends Bernard and Michael and the rest of the gang. We can't thank Trafalgar enough! So many great stories and wonderful memories! We had an amazing time in Ireland…..we will be back!

When we think of Ireland, we may think of the major cities in both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. We may think of "the troubles" that ended in 1998 with the Belfast Agreement. We may think about the thriving cosmopolitan city of Dublin. But if you were planning a fortnight visit to the island, there's much more to appreciate than just the major cities. classic car rental austin Some of the most picturesque and stunning of scenery can be viewed in Ireland – you just need to know where to go and what to see.
Check out the affordable hotels in Ireland that will keep your two week trip as cheap as possible. After all, with so much to see, you don't need to pay for much more than comfort at your chosen accommodation. You'll be spending classic car rental austin most of your time exploring your surroundings and won't want to spend that much time indoors.
Firstly, classic car rental austin you need to decide where to begin your trip. Shannon is highly recommended because it places you at a gateway to the great outdoors. We also recommend you hire a car for your travels, which will give you much more freedom and ability to appreciate as much as possible.
classic car rental austin Head down to the Dingle Peninsula in Ireland's most south westerly point and appreciate the picturesque coastline before heading over for the sights of the Ring of Kerry. With its beautiful classic car rental austin seascapes, it's recommended to take your time so you can absorb as much as possible of the sights classic car rental austin and sounds of this incredible classic car rental austin corner of the world.
Once you're classic car rental austin done here, make your way up the eastern coast, stopping off at Waterford before arriving classic car rental austin at the capital, Dublin. Spend a couple of days here exploring all that Dublin has to offer, including the Guinness Storehouse and the impressive Dublin Castle.

We haven't decided where we will fly into and we don't really mind. We were planning to drive around. But we were really hoping to visit Dublin, Belfast, Cliffs of Moher and Giant's Causeway. I've been reading a lot of forums saying it doesn't seem very doable so any advice about what to skip or ideas about where to start would be greatly appreciated.
Unless you're on a motorway, you'll average only about 40 mph in Ireland. That said, you will barely have time to see Dublin, Belfast, and Giant's Causeway in 5 or 6 days. Cliffs of Moher are 'way out of the way, time-wise. Please get a map of Ireland and a guidebook and plan carefully. If Cliffs of Moher are a "must-see" then you might want to fly into Shannon and see them along with many other interesting sites in that general area, but IMO Dublin, finding middle aged singles from canada to travel with Belfast, and Giant's Causeway would be too far afield from Shannon. I'm hoping the Ireland experts will add their recommendations.
Part of the beauty of Ireland is getting off the expressway and seeing the countryside. Roads are narrow, and with driving on the left side of road, and on the "passenger" side of the car itself, it's a vastly different experience.
You can do the Northern arc in 6 days, Fly into Shannon finding middle aged singles from canada to travel with and drive to Galway past the Cliffs day one. Day Two head for Sligo possibly some of the Connemara on route. Day Three Portrush finding middle aged singles from canada to travel with via Derry, Day Four Belfast via the Antrim Coast. Day 5/6 Dublin.
According to the driving time map in the back of Rick Steves' Ireland book, Belfast to Dublin would take 3.25 hours, Dublin to Cliffs of Moher 4.5 hours. Of course, that doesn't include stops for meals, gas, or sightseeing.
If you believe anything in that RS book then you believe anything. The times are wrong but on this occasion air on the top side. Be warned that RS advice on turning in wing mirrors and fixing "L" plates will get you in trouble with the Garda
Another thought -- even at slow 35-40 mph average speeds, it is possible to drive to all the sites you want to see. However, your 5-6 days will be mostly driving with little time to enjoy what you've driven to see. This kind of trip appeals to some, so if that's your cuppa, go for it.
Marirose the ambassador for Tourism NI. How many Tourists do you find wandering the streets of East Belfast?? If they flew the British flag every day from now to eternity there would still be mindless idiots wanting their hooded finding middle aged singles from canada to travel with image on National Telly and there are areas of any city anywhere in the world that a tourist would not go, want to go.
I'm planning on taking my first vacation to Ireland this September as well. I have no idea what I'll be doing yet. I only know that I'll be flying from San Francisco to Dublin. I hope you have a great time and I'm sure I'll be posting my own questions in the near future. In the meantime, I'll just check out the replies you're getting
I have issued this warning before, but watch for jagged edges on the roads. I got too close and ended up with a flat tire on the Burren. When you see those roadside castles and towers, give yourself the time to stop and check them out.

Cork-Belfast cheap hotels in singapore will be much closer to the estimate given by the online calculators as for most of the trip (from Cork city to the border) you will be using good motorways (M8/M7/M50/M1) where you can go 120kph (unless posted otherwise).
janisj, we are taking up a rental car but it will be within Ireland and Norther Ireland only, we plan to pickup the car in our 3rd day (1st 2 days in Dublin will be on foot/public transport) in Dublin city and return the car 3 days later in Belfast or Larne.
Northern Ireland cheap hotels in singapore is The ROI like Canada is the USA. A car rented in the South returns to the South either by you or at your expense. The driver could drop the car back at Dublin Airport and Bus back to Belfast whilst the others take the sights (Cheap way?)or you pay the rental company to repatriate the thing (expensive way?)
If Drop Off is too expensive, cheap hotels in singapore consider dropping the car off at Dublin cheap hotels in singapore and either taking the bus or train to Belfast. The Stranraer ferry is only 100 feet or so from the train station, with access cheap hotels in singapore to Glasgow and Edinburgh.
I used the train from Cork to Dublin, Dublin to Belfast, cheap hotels in singapore and a Stena Line fast ferry to Scotland followed by a slow train to Glasgow. I don't remember the travel times but it's all available on line from public sources.
We both love cultural experiences, a taste of local life and viewing some castles. Not that much on museums but maybe dinning and shopping at places locals cheap hotels in singapore would go. Was also thinking of going to the Guinness factory in Kilkenny, advisable?
Just stay on the train in Glasgow cheap hotels in singapore and head for Edinburgh. Take a city bus out to Roslyn Chapel. It's a tiny old place undergoing repairs a few years back. The Witchery is an historic and fine restaurant, and at a price.
Actually, if you do the Rail and Sail, you'll need to change stations in Glasgow, to take the train on, to Edinburgh. cheap hotels in singapore It's a short walk, through a pleasant part of town. We did it in 2007, hauling large rolling duffle bags, without any problem.
While it might be lunacy to have a car in London, I could make a similar argument against having one in Edinburgh, as well. Rosslyn is a short, inexpensive bus ride from city center and WELL worth a visit -- even if you are NOT a Dan Brown fan ...
I was also thinking of hopping on a train ride but will still have a car, probably park at the hotel or something. We once did a road trip in Tasmania and love the thrill cheap hotels in singapore of discovering places to stay the night and stopping by for a cuppa in some quint old town. But I do agree having a car in London is not the best way around, so we are planning to return the car when we reach London and travel on public transport or HOHO in our week there.

Life is about recommendations. Restaurants, wine, books, food, you name it, if someone tells you to try something or visit somewhere, the seal of approval is worth its weight in gold. As a travel writer, I make new discoveries through articles, television documentaries and word of mouth. The latter is my favourite - a recommendation from someone I trust means it s worth following up.
I set up this website to share my travel experiences with readers and to inspire people to travel the world. I enjoy being able to recommend a hotel, city or country that captures my imagination and heart. However, rather than me harping on about places I ve visited, I thought it would be nice to introduce new voices san francisco luxury car rental to my website. It s always nice to mix things up.
So over the next few months, alongside my usual posts, I ll be asking people from different walks in life, about their favourite hotels, travel experiences and travel tips. Why? In the hope we can provide the inspiration for you to go out and explore the world in 2013.
First up, the lovely Sinead Desmond , broadcaster and presenter on Ireland AM . When I was doing publicity for the Timeout Guide to Ireland Sinead interviewed me on Ireland AM and could not have made it easier. I was sick at the thought of having to fill 12 minutes talking on camera. However, she was bubbly, friendly and put me at my ease in no time. She s well-travelled and has great taste, so I thought I d ask her a few of her travel favourites.
SD: It has to be The Cook Islands , they are undoubtedly the most beautiful place I have ever been to, the sea and sea life was magnificent, the diving was out of this world and the people were so welcoming.

SD: It has to be Aghadoe Heights in Killarney. I adore Kerry it has some of the most beautiful scenery in Ireland and the service in Aghadoe is second to none. The whole package is perfect as far as I m concerned the food, bar, spa (especially the spa!) pool, the views and the people there just can t do enough san francisco luxury car rental for you. I was lucky enough to stay in the incredible penthouse once, when we did a shoot there for VIP magazine, and as we sat in the outdoor hot tub I took in the magnificent views of Carrauntoohill, while my husband drank a beer and watched Munster play on the outdoor telly. I have never seen him happier in my life! I always come back from Aghadoe feeling really rested and relaxed and that, to me, is worth its weight in gold!
I have to also mention two other hotels, which I cannot rate highly enough. Inchydoney Lodge and Spa , Cork is another favourite, the location is stunning. I love the seaweed treatments in the spa and if you go get the crab claws and chips in the bar, yummy, yummy, yummy! The second is the Shelbourne Hotel , which is my favourite place to stay in Dublin and they have a brand new spa which is incredible!
SD: Camping! I love being active san francisco luxury car rental and in the outdoors. Ireland has stunning scenery and it s all free. Camping is the best way to see it! Some of my favourite childhood memories are of camping holidays with my family in Wicklow, Clare and Kerry. All you need is your rucksack, tent and boots and off you go. Sitting around a camp fire having the chat after a days hiking is without doubt one of my favourite things in the world to do!
SD: Actually I just came back from Tenerife, where for the first time ever, in my experience, Kindles outnumbered real books around the pool. I am a huge fan of Ipads and Kindles and do use them to read, but I ll always be a book girl. Going into a bookshop and buying a new book is still a thrill for me and great value for money!

Season three of the hit period drama Downton Abbey began Sunday night with a two hour episode. Downton Abbey may be for sale as Robert Crawley learns that he s almost broke and the news comes just before daughter Mary is about to marry Matthew Crawley, which she does later in the episode.
Tom Branson is increasingly concerned with the Irish Question as Ireland continues its fight for independence. Branson, played by Dublin actor Allen Leech, is an Irish Republican and new Crawley son-in-law after his marriage to youngest daughter Sybil.
In the spring of 1920 when season three starts, the fight for Irish independence has taken a turn for the worse. vans warp tour Following Britain and Ireland s inability to reach a peaceful compromise between Home Rule and complete Irish independence, the Irish Republican Brotherhood had launched a guerilla war. Julian Fellowes, vans warp tour the show s creator, told RTE Guide magazine , At the time in the early twenties, the big thing on front of every newspaper in Britain was Ireland and it would have been quite wrong not to deal with.
Branson s outspokenness about Irish Home Rule creates tension with some of the other characters. Violet Crawley, played by Maggie vans warp tour Smith, said on the newlyweds return from Dublin, He will behave properly because I shall hold his hand on the radiator until he does. Relations between the two will likely continue to sour.
Expect to hear Branson speak more on Irish independence in the upcoming episodes. After straining Britain s already weakened finances, the British and Irish will sign a treaty to end the Irish War for Independence in 1921, which will create the Irish Free State. Leaders from the Irish delegation, including Michael Collins, known as the Big Fella, visited London to negotiate the treaty. The treaty will also permit the six counties vans warp tour in Northern Ireland to opt out of the Free State and continue their union with Britain. The partition will contribute to the Irish Civil War.
Shirley MacLaine, who plays Cora Crawley s liberal Yankee mother Martha Levinson, also brings up the question of Home Rule in the third season. vans warp tour Fellowes said about the casting choice, If it wasn t Shirley, I can t think of who else we would have got. He added, We wanted that utter cultural difference vans warp tour so that she would come out of a car and everybody would go Wow!
Near the end of the episode, the servants prepare an indoor picnic to cover up a broken oven before a fundraising dinner to save Downton Abbey. Martha announces she can t help because her money is tied up in the terms of her husband s will and returns to America, leaving the Crawley s future residence in Downton Abbey uncertain.

We have been looking forward to this Saturday night for quite some time. Why you ask? Oh, you didn't ask? Well I'm going to tell you anyway. Our favorite DJ duo from down under will be playing our favorite place for dance parties in DC. That's right, Flight Facilities will be hitting the decks at U-Street Music Hall this Saturday, October 20th. To say that we are excited would be quite an understatement. This show will be their third stop on their fourteen show "Frequently Flying" tour. We will be giving away a pair of tickets to this sure to be EPIC dance party to one lucky reader. Details on how to enter are at the bottom of this post.
Flight rental cars florida Facilities is made up of Australian DJ/Producers Hugo Gruzman and Jimmy Lyell. The name (and logo) came from an old Australian airline that Hugo's grandfather started. FF burst onto the scene in 2010 with their debut single " Crave You " featuring Giselle. While this track helped the duo gain exposure and airtime, it wasn't until the release of their second single " Foreign Languages " featuring Jess, in 2011, that they really solidified themselves as producers. This past May they released another single, titled " With You " featuring Grovesnor. Also, Flight Facilities recently announced they will be releasing another single, "Clair De Lune" featuring Christine Hoberg on October 30. In addition rental cars florida to these original tracks, they have done remixes for the likes of Cut Copy , Bag Raiders , Holy Ghost , Sneaky Soundsystem , The C90's and others.
While these originals and remixes showcase their talent as producers, its their mixes that really rental cars florida show you what they can do as DJs. After hearing Maiden Voyage Mixtape and Mid-Flight Mixtape for the first time, I knew these guys were the real deal. One of my top five favorite mixes of all time is their 37,000 feet Mixtape . Not only are the songs they spin superb and unique, but so is the way that they seamlessly meld them together. They put a lot of time, thought, and effort into each mix, and for this reason, they generally only put out a couple per year. That is, up until now.
After waiting months and months for them to drop a new mixtape, Flight Facilities announced they would be releasing FOUR, all in the month of October! They are being featured as October residents on Triple J Mix-up Exclusives . This means that each Saturday of this month, Triple J is airing new, hour long Flight Facilities mixes. These aren't just any old mixes of random tracks squeezed into an hour time slot either. After all, this is Flight Facilities that we are talking about here. Due in part to the popularity of their Paris Social rental cars florida Club - 70s DJ Set , they decided each mix would be dedicated to one of the past 4 decades. Furthermore, the songs are placed chronologically in the order they came out. That's not all. Hugo and Jimmy took this process to another level completely and added in samples rental cars florida of news clips and pop culture from each decade throughout the mixes. The final products turned rental cars florida out more like musical and historical timelines than mix tapes. Read more about the level of detail that went into this process HERE .
Each mix is available to stream for a week after it airs on Triple J's website (Week 2, 1982-1992 currently available to stream, see below). Flight Facilities has also said they will make these mixes available for download in the coming months.

However, do not expect to hop aboard a Speedy Airlines rocket-plane anytime soon scientists involved in Germany s SpaceLiner project say it probably won t happen until 2050 or so, because of the challenges remain, and that s an understatement. Among the obstacles:
Another concern: careful flight plans must be developed so the sonic boom that occurs during final landing approach does not damage nearby buildings. FareCompare spoke with a Los Angeles resident who lived under the flight path of space shuttle landings at Edwards Air Force Base who told us the sonic booms she experienced shook her house to its foundations. cheap vacation rentals in ocean city maryland Everyone would race out of their homes because they thought an earthquake was underway, she said.
Something else to consider: The demise of the Concorde SST which zipped through the skies from 1976 through 2003 was not met with any great outcry. Apparently, a three-and-a-half hour flight from New York to Paris was not on the top of enough passengers lists.
