I so agree! They embody all that's good about America in their values, love, compassion and caring. JFK, born into wealth and privilege, was ever mindful that wealth and power could be used to elevate the less fortunate. PBO wasn't born into wealth yet he embodies the same values.
Thank for also bringing up something that I feel very strongly about. During this past election there was a lot said about ordinary Americans being jealous of Romney's success. That was never the case, but I did see resentment against his sense of entitlement. That is quite a difference. Both JFK, born into a world of wealth and privilege, and our current President, born into much different circumstances, realize that wealth and power can be an exceptionally powerful force when used as a tool to raise up others. And that is one very powerful, and wonderful, difference between the men.

Everyone compares Obama's vacation to GWB's vacations. How come no one ever mentions the waste of taxpayer money for GWB to fly all over the world to "say goodbye to world leaders." The holiday season adds to the already wintery weather that Hilo experiences year-round. With all that rain and gloominess in the skies, it s like Christmas everyday in this rainy town on the Big Island. And for the second year in a row, Hilo will be getting even more wintery cheer through a holiday open house.
Starting in mid-December, the Hawai i County Building transforms into a colorful gingerbread house of sorts that looks better than it tastes. Santa s elves (also known as country volunteers) decorate dozens of trees, bake holiday treats and sound the trumpets that put out a call for holiday entertainment.

Believe it or not, there are actually days in Hawai i warranted for wearing winter clothing princess cruises greek isles boots, scarves, the whole gamut. If you re planning a trip here during the months of November, December and January, it wouldn t hurt to bring a light scarf or rain jacket. Both won t take up much room in your suitcase; boots, on the other hand, might be too clunky to pack. You might want to consider packing something warm if you re visiting Haleakala or Mauna Kea. Both volcanic peaks are so high in elevation that temperatures can be in the 40s and 50s. Not to mention, the wind factor!
And while we may not get snow (except for on Mauna Kea), we do get rain during these months. Unlike Washington or Oregon, where it may rain all day for days at a time, Hawai i s rainy season varies. There could be light showers during most mornings and evenings, princess cruises greek isles while the middle of the day might be overcast and cloudy. Other days could be completely sunny but with strong gusts of wind. You just never can be sure, so it s best to be prepared.

So where do you go when you re up late in Hawai i in search of some food to fix your hunger funk? I d start with your hotel first. Most have room service or a signature restaurant that can whip up a good meal in-house. Some hotels, on the other hand, have dropped the luxury of room service all together, instead resorting to outsourced companies. And even those don t stay open very late.
You (and your tummy) are in luck if you re vacationing on O ahu and find yourself in a similar pickle. From cheeseburgers and fries to a sake and sushi, there are tons of places that open late; some open 24 hours, golf mini tours like Likelike Drive-Inn golf mini tours and select Zippy s. Sanoya s has been long known as the go-to spot for a sobering bowl of steamy saimin; you know, after you stumble out of the clubs, tired from all that late-night dancing?
golf mini tours Our favorite 24-hour food joint has always been Liliha Bakery . Why? Because not only will you find the experience of old-school golf mini tours dining, but you ll also find breakfast. As in, sweet bread French toast and omelets. Coffee, too! Just be warned, everyone tends to have the same idea round 11, 12 o clock at night, so be prepared to wait in line for a seat at the bar.
Other islands might be limited in their late-night dining selection. On Maui, you ll find 24-hour restaurants that include Denny s (Kahului and Kihei), McDonalds (Kahului) and Zippy s (Kahului). Not sure about 24-hour restaurants on Kaua i; 11 p.m. at Duke s Canoe Club seems to be the latest. There are also bars, like Tomkats Grille golf mini tours and Keoki s Paradise, that close at 10 p.m. and 10:30 p.m., respectively. Mind you, they re bars, so if you ve got hungry little tykes, then I wouldn t recommend going there.
Surprisingly, with how non-existent the Big Island s nightlife is, they actually have a 24-hour eatery. Ken s House of Pancakes in Hilo offers more breakfast at midnight options that make you wish you could go to sleep, just to do it all over again in the morning!
