The next day we went shopping. We started the day with a ride on a traditional London double decker
Polished British accents, strawberries cream, high tea, Wimbledon, and the London hotel llafranc spain Eye: KDHamptons hotel llafranc spain Contributing Entertaining Editor [and partner of Harrison Shriftman], Lara Shriftman, takes readers on a proper British adventure in her new travel diary:
She shares, This summer, I took my son Lucas to London for the first time. We stayed at one of my favorite hotels in London, The Dorchester Hotel. You could smell the fresh flowers from outside the entrance of the hotel. When we walked hotel llafranc spain in he said, "Mommy, this reminds me of the Beverly Hills Hotel!"
We've been reading lots of books on London to prepare for the trip. We were excited to see London and also catch up with lots of old friends. Because it was Lucas first time I wanted to take him to London's "must see" attractions. We stopped hotel llafranc spain at Buckingham Palace to see the changing of the guard and then we visited the guard museum where he got to try on the jacket and the hat ~ he loved all the guards! Lucas also loved all the old red phone booths, classic black cab and the red double decker buses.
Next stop, we checked out Parliament and went on the London Eye, which is a gorgeous giant ferris wheel on the banks of the Thames River. After that we met up with an old friend Genifer Lancaster hotel llafranc spain who took us to Fortnum Mason where they have the best selection of pretty much everything, but they are famous for their teas and tea sets. We had simply delicious ice cream at the Fortnum Mason ice cream parlor. It's situated on Fortnum s first floor and provides hotel llafranc spain a gastronomic ice cream indulgence to people of all ages! We also took a walk around Hyde Park which is one of the largest parks and one of the Royal Parks in Central London because it was such a beautiful day with perfect weather.
Then we went on the London Duck Tour which is a great way to sightsee! We sat in an old, bright yellow army bus that turns into a boat and the tour takes you through land and river giving you a closer look at all the popular sights like the London Eye, Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament and Trafalgar Square.
Next we went to The Wolseley for high tea which is a spectacular café-restaurant in the grand European tradition on London's hotel llafranc spain famous hotel llafranc spain Piccadilly. Lucas loves the Wolseley Afternoon blend which he adds milk to and particularly enjoys the fruit scones and the selection of pastries. High tea offers a great selection of assorted finger sandwiches, hotel llafranc spain fruit scones with homemade jam and clotted cream, a selection of pastries, and your choice of teas including English Breakfast, Earl Grey, Darjeeling, Ceylon, Assam, hotel llafranc spain Jasmine, and Green tea. Some of my other favorite places to have tea are Claridges' Hotel and The Connaught Hotel. Then we had a delicious dinner at The River Café.
The next day we went shopping. We started the day with a ride on a traditional London double decker bus! Lucas was excited to ride at the very top. Then we went to Boots Pharmacy where I picked up some of my favorite coconut shampoo and conditioner. I couldn't leave without picking up Berocca, which is a sparkling tablet that dissolves in water for a refreshing orange flavored energy drink that is high in B C vitamins and minerals.
We met up with an old friend Mandolyna Theodoracopulos of Taki s Magazine on Brompton Road. I got my hair done at a fabulous salon called Hari's Hair Beauty. It's a traditional, well-known English hair salon that has a bun bar and a pony tail bar.
Then we went to Conrans, an old favorite of mine, that has beautiful flowers, gardening, and great accessories for the home. Afterwards, we walked over to Harrods which is a huge department store with seven different floors with everything you could ask for. It is a shopper's paradise. The shop s 330 departments offer a wide range of products and services such as clothing for women, hotel llafranc spain men, children and infants, electronics, jewelry, sporting gear, pets and pet accessories, toys, food and drink, health and beauty items, hotel llafranc spain packaged gifts, stationery, housewares, home appliances, furniture, and much more.
Also, he had to hit the ice cream parlor to try the spaghetti ice cream which an old friend Elizabeth hotel llafranc spain Saltzman said was a must-try for Lucas! Harrods is definitely an impressive one-stop shop. Then we went to Hamley's which is one of the world s best-known retailers of toys. Its flagship store in London is the world s largest toy store. That night we went to dinner at Loulou on Hertford Street.
The next day, we went to Wimbledon where we sat courtside to watch Serena hotel llafranc spain Williams play. We ran into old friends, Mark Ein from DC who owns the Washington Kastles, a professional tennis team based in Washington D.C. that are a franchise of the World Team Tennis Pro League, hotel llafranc spain and Kate Hudson who was there with Sara Foster who was watching her husband play.
After Wimbledon we went to old friend Tamara Veroni and her beautiful daughter Vivi's "Summer Girls" party at the Little Black Gallery. The Little hotel llafranc spain Black Gallery is London s boutique photography gallery where Anja Niemi "Starlets", Bob Carlos Clarke, Terry O'Neill, Marco Glaviano, Lord Patrick Litchfield, Norman Parkinson, Mike Figgis, Alistair Taylor Young, Vee Speers, and Chris Levine were showing. A few stores next door, some of London's hotel llafranc spain most amazing designers were showing. I loved this great kids store called Love Brand Co that had adorable elephant swimsuits and polo shirts and they donate part of the earnings to saving elephants. At the end of this amazing night, we had a fabulous dinner at Henry Root next door with more old friends.
We had a great time in London and got to see all the main attractions. We only missed out on the Harry Potter tour but we'll save it for next time! Flying home was a great experience on Virgin Atlantic. I absolutely loved the SoHo House Cowshed products and the fact that you could shower, sit in the sauna or relax in the Jacuzzi. Very luxe! You didn't feel like you were in the airport at all. It was the perfect way to end the trip. Now off to the Hamptons, and to visit with KDH!
