Everyone travels for their own reasons, in their own way. Oftentimes, we don't have the time to see as much as we'd like—or the opportunity or budget to do it just the way we want. But imagine if you had no such constraints. Imagine, instead, that you could combine the very best, most luxurious, over-the-top, adventurous, unique, and unforgettable travel experiences in each region. What would that trip look like? In this section, we've done just that, taking the craziest, most memorable things we do, and combining them into trips designed to blow you away. A few days in the wilderness might see you face-to-face with a grizzly bear and soaking in a wood-fuelled cedar sauna—after which you might spend a few days cruising aboard your private yacht, or summer skiing on a nearby glacier. Of course, what comprises a "Trip of a Lifetime" depends very much on what appeals to you. But to get you started, here are some of our picks for Canadian Trips of a Lifetime:
Having lived in Vancouver since 1994, and being a serious outdoorsman, it's probably not too much of a shock that Entrée Canada president Marc Télio combined a series of incredible B.C. experiences to create Marc's Top Pick. Days spent exploring Whistler resort and the urban delights of Vancouver are complemented by time at exquisite Clayoquot Wilderness Resort. Think ziplining, bear viewing, whale watching, horseback riding, kayaking, river fishing, hiking, and more. With a similar emphasis on outdoor fun, King Pacific Lodge Adventure marries Whistler with Princess Royal Island, where diversions run to ocean fishing, fly-fishing, kayaking, heli-hiking, and bear and whale watching. Culinary Cruise Adventure is something else entirely—a perfect trip for families that combines the very best of B.C. by land, air and sea. Nights are spent aboard the Pacific Yellowfin, as well as at legendary Hastings House and the Shangri-La in Vancouver, allowing for urban explorations as well as some of the most memorable views, explorations and culinary experiences the glorious Gulf Islands have to offer. West Coast Romance is another great combination: the Gulf Islands + Victoria + three nights at the Wickaninnish Inn near Tofino. The elegance and grace of Saltspring Island and Victoria are perfect bookends for Vancouver Island s dramatically rugged west coast.
Combine all the best Rockies views, hikes, drives, and activities with the region's most luxurious hotels and resorts in Banff, Jasper and Lake Louise (which boast some pretty incredible views of their own) and you get Exploring the Rockies in Style. And if the timing works, we'll always recommend adding in a few days to experience the Calgary Stampede, a.k.a. The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth. Whether you've got kids in tow or not, there's simply nothing like it.
If you've never explored Ontario or Québec, Exploring the East in Style is the ultimate introduction, hitting all the highlights in Toronto, Niagara Falls, Montréal, Québec City, Mont Tremblant, and the Beaupré Coast. It's a comprehensive journey through the region, utilizing private drivers and Via Rail trains to seamlessly link each stop. Cultural walking tours, culinary discoveries, and stays at first-class local hotels are all part of the program. If you find yourself in Toronto and simply have a few days to explore, we'll recommend a three-day Niagara Falls experience based out of charming Niagara-on-the-Lake and featuring wine tastings and a culinary tour as well as the requisite Falls experience. (There's a reason it's requisite.)
This 4-day/ 3-night trip is all about the Calgary Stampede, also known as "The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth!" Our package includes premium seating to offer you the best possible experience, and the program can easily be extended with additional shows and/or Stampede features and other Calgary activities. Your hotel is the Fairmont Palliser—Calgary's finest.
This 7-day/ 6-night unique vacation provides the very best of British Columbia by land, air and sea. Experience a new concept in cruising, ideal for active families and couples seeking adventure, nature, elegance and the gourmet experience. Highlights include three days and nights aboard the Pacific Yellowfin, cruising the Gulf Islands in search of whales, including stops at various islands for hiking, beachcombing, cycling and exploring; three nights on land in two of BC's most elegant inns and boutique hotels; and gourmet meals in two of the most renowned dining rooms in western Canada. This trip is one to remember!
This 12-day/ 11-night trip offers an incredibly comprehensive introduction to the great cities and historic sites of Eastern Canada. You'll explore in style, marveling in spectacular scenery from the comfort of your own private transfer vehicles and guided tours, while staying in spacious suites at each top hotel. Trip highlights are too numerous to count, including all the must-sees of Toronto, Montréal, Mont-Tremblant and Québec City—not to mention Niagara Falls and Québec's Beaupré Coast. You'll discover everything from chic boutiques and award-winning wines to Gothic architecture and Québécois street food. Great for couples or families.
This 9-day/ 8-night trip is the ultimate Canadian Rockies experience, perfect for families and pretty much anyone who loves to explore the outdoors. We take in all the sites that have become world famous, plus give you opportunities to explore the spectacular landscapes on foot and spot wildlife up close. Even the drives will make your jaw drop! Highlights include a heli-tour over the magnificent peaks of the Kananaskis Region, and luxury accommodations with preferred views in Banff, Jasper, and Lake Louise.
This 8-day/ 7-night trip combines a night at the Four Seasons Hotel in Vancouver with three nights at remote King Pacific Lodge and three nights at the Four Seasons Resort Whistler—allowing you to enjoy two very different Canadian outdoor experiences. From your luxury floating resort on Princess Royal Island, it's all about spectacular views and absolute wilderness. In contrast, your stay in Whistler situates you in the midst of the action in North America's #1 ski and adventure destination. In both spots, your opportunities for activity are endless, with literally dozens of choices ranging from low key nature hikes and wildlife viewing to ziplining and heli-sightseeing.
This 9-day/ 8-night trip is, you guessed it, Marc's favourite! With three nights each at the Fairmont Château Whistler and Clayoquot Wilderness Resort and two nights at the Shangri-La Hotel in Vancouver, you'll experience three exquisite hotels in three distinct and beautiful pockets of B.C. Staying in Whistler puts you square in the middle of the mountains in one of the top adventure resorts in North America. Any high adrenaline activity you can think of is at your fingertips. At your luxury tented camp within the Clayoquot Sound World Biosphere, you'll experience the sort of remote beauty and wildlife most people associate with the Canadian wilderness. Finally, you'll be in the heart of downtown Vancouver, an exciting city famed for its cultural diversity and spectacular parks. We think it's a killer combination.
This 4-day/ 3-night trip offers a perfect opportunity to visit perhaps the most famous attraction in Canada, Niagara Falls. The nearby town of Niagara-on-the-Lake—everyone's idea of what an early 19th century town should be—offers charming accommodations at the Prince of Wales Hotel, allowing you to enjoy excellent meals and relax at the spa. We've also scheduled a full-day wine tasting event to ensure you see the best of the area; the Niagara Escarpment has become almost as famous for its viticulture as the Falls are for their 173-foot-high thundering spectacle. A perfect little romantic getaway!
This 9-day/ 8-night trip takes in what are arguably the highlights of British Columbia's beautiful coastline. First, a night in spectacular Vancouver. Then two nights in the idyllic artists' community of Salt Spring Island, the largest of the Gulf Islands, are followed by three nights near Tofino, gateway to the old growth forests of Pacific Rim National Park. The trip ends with two nights in quaint Victoria, Canada's "garden city." Everywhere, you'll enjoy fine Pacific Northwest cuisine featuring locally caught seafood, Salt Spring lamb, organic greens, and award-winning BC wines. This is a trip for romantics who enjoy a leisurely pace, seclusion and lots of places to kiss!
