After pulling ratings fox rent car my fog light switch, I was left with only a 5 pin harness for the fog light. It seems like this is the biggest deterent for cruise ratings fox rent car control installs. I know it won't be completely OEM, but could I bypass the dash switch? Looking at the diagram (page 9), I could connect the blue/yellow wire (behind gauges) to the green wire at the Cruise Computer.
I had the salvage yard I picked up the components from also provide the plug from the instrument harness that the cruise-fog combo switch plugs into (Q-02), with about 6 inches of pigtail. Five of the output wires from the cruise fog combo switch were plugged ratings fox rent car into my existing five wire plug on my 2002 (using 1/4 inch spade connectors).

Pin E Q01 terminates on the front harness at the X07 connector. On my 2002, the X07 connector is the big white connector under the dash about 3 inches to the left of the steering column (when you are on your back looking up it is the connector in your face.
Before I spliced into the wire at the X07 connector, (with the battery leads lifted), I unplugged the X07 connector, and checked continuity from the appropriate color coded wire on X07 back to Q01, confirmed I had the correct wire, and them made the splice.
From the wiring ratings fox rent car diagram (and from physical inspection of your Miata), you should see the R/Y wire on the front harness side of the connector, but the corresponding ratings fox rent car pin/wire missing on the instrument harness side. By splicing in and making the physical ratings fox rent car connection from X07 to Q01 you are replacing this missing wire (I did it by going via the combo switch, sounds like you are going to bypass the switch).
If you are committed to going this route (chasing wires and pinouts ratings fox rent car under the dash), not too much more difficult to replace your current fog only switch with the cruise-fog combo switch so you have the cruise switched.
Working on OEM cruise install on my 2000. I bought all the used parts and have most parts installed. But can not seem to be able to find the female pigtail that plugs into the new combo switch. Can only find the connector that went to the fog lamp switch. Any ideas. Is the combo connector part of the wiring harness. Can't imagine that there wouldd be different harness on the base model which mine is and a more upgraded model.
Hint on the gas pedal, take a pair on channel locks and slightly bend the bracket inwards until you can slide a screwdriver in between the hat and bracket. Just be sure not to grab the hat with the channel locks, otherwise you end up with more of a headache.
I did decide to bypass the main cruise control switch. On the female side of X-07 connector, I soldiered Black/Yellow and Red/Yellow together to power the cruise computer. Someone ratings fox rent car with a more complete ratings fox rent car diagram, could tell what other accessories are on the female side of X-07 Black/Yellow. If so you just as easily switch the Black/Yellow and Red/Yellow pins on the female side and be complete.
I dont know if it would have a learn function, if it's an OEM miata cruise control unit, but there were some early (1999, ratings fox rent car 2000) models where the cruise control computer starts acting funky with going over your set speed. Don't know specifics but a search will lead you to the answers.
