I know this is a thread about aftermarket cruise, but I would (and did) add the factory cruise to mi

I just returned from a trip with a friend to look at a 1996 base model with 21k miles, which he wound up buying. He is fine without the a/c since our area of Montana rarely gets hot enough to require it, but would like cruise control for the wide open spaces. A search cheap nyc hotels turned up several posts from forum members recommending the Audiovox ccs-100 kit. Online vendors, including Amazon, no longer have this unit in stock so it may have been discontinued. Does anyone know who may still stock this or have a recommendation for a similar kit?
The Audiovox CCS100 has been used for years on these cars, is under a $100 with free shipping from Amazon, takes about 3-4 hours to install and works as well as the factory cruise and takes up less room under the hood. If I wasn't going to do a true factory conversion, it's the only aftermarket unit I'd consider because of the simplicity and cost. Lots of instructions and tips on how to use it posted on this board and in the garage section. I've installed six of them now, not a one has ever broken and no one has ever had any complaints about holding speed or ease of use.
Thanks for the input on the cruise control. There are a couple of new audiovox ccs-100 kits up for auction on e-bay and I will ask my friend if he wants to go through the bidding process to try to obtain one.
By the way Tom, I am the guy who sent you the hardcover NSX brochure cheap nyc hotels a year or so ago. You apparently no longer have the car but I hope you enjoyed your time with it. As an educator you might be interested to know that my friend who bought the 1996 is a 77 year old retired university physics professor. He has been undergoing chemo treatments for bone cancer cheap nyc hotels the last couple of years, and last year lost his wife of 53 years to lung cancer. Life has not been kind to him lately so I am trying to help him get as much enjoyment out of this Miata as possible.
I put the Audiovox in my '97 and could not be happier.I'm so sorry to hear about your buddy. My grandmother had bone cancer and it was a very painful ordeal for her.Anything I can do to help, let cheap nyc hotels me know.Tom

Reference to the Audiovox units for sale on E bay, the first one went for $250, the second may top that. So much for the Rostra being more expensive. cheap nyc hotels The last ones that Amazon had were priced at $200.
Funny - my 1990 came with this. It works fine, though I rarely use it. The controller is a second stalk installed onto the steering column on the left side. It is mounted upside down (I think it's designed for the right side) but works fine.
I have used the Audiovox unit in the past (on a Dodge minivan). I thought it was great for the money. A year later I ended up pulling it out when I sold the van, and sold it on eBay for about $85, so I got nearly all my money back.
I purchased an Audiovox CS100 cruise control unit from Checker Auto for $89.00. I used the excellant instructions as found in the garage section, cheap nyc hotels took my time and installed cheap nyc hotels the unit on My 91 NA. It works perfectly. Just got back from a trip from Utah to Canada with nary a problem.
I installed a Rostra unit on my 2002. Followed instructions to the letter, control stalk mounts on left side of steering column under headlight stalk. I even hooked the control switch - which is on the stalk, BTW - light to the CRUISE light on the instrument panel, and it comes on whenever I power up the system. The control switch has a small green LED, but it is hard to see unless one bends down and looks below steering wheel. cheap nyc hotels Having the CRUISE light hookup lets me know at a glance if system is armed or not. The entire system works as well as any factory system I've had on other cars, got the package on AMAZON for around 150 bucks, including S H. Pretty easy to install, hardest thing was setting cheap nyc hotels the 'dip' switches in the basic module under the hood - my old eyes just don't see that small very well, so I used a head magnifier. Hope this helps - can provide pictures if you so desire. cheap nyc hotels Buck - malcolmedwina@bellsouth.net
Which would you do? Buy an aftermarket cruise system (seems the Audiovox is the one to go with) or buy the factory cruise parts from a auto salvage place? cheap nyc hotels My 1999 has no cruise cheap nyc hotels control and I desperately want to add it. I found a guy who will sell me all the stock cruise parts except his pedal assembly (which someone told me I still needed even though I obviously already have an accelerator and brake assembly) for $40.00. Assuming the pedal assembly is no more than another $50.00, I can get all the factory parts for about the same money as an aftermarket system.
Let me also mention that which ever system I go with, aftermarket or stock, I will have to have my mechanic put it in for me. Does one take longer to install than the other? Assuming cheap nyc hotels a shop rate of say $60.00 an hour, what will each cost to have installed?
I know this is a thread about aftermarket cruise, cheap nyc hotels but I would (and did) add the factory cruise to mine. The install isn't too difficult, and everything is plug and play. I was able to score all of my parts from one car for $75. No dangly extra stalks or stick-on switches to worry about.
