I am a planner. I am also an explorer. Both of these traits influence how I travel. When I touch down in a new city, I am on a serious headquarters plaza hotel quest. There is so much information out there, so many people eager to share their thoughts, so many sites offering reviews. Back in the day, you had to work for it. Now it's as simple as turning on your phone.
I pulled out a journal I kept when my husband and I traveled through Africa, years ago, and reread a list of what we did one day in Tamale, Ghana. We got up early and rode bikes into the countryside, where we stopped headquarters plaza hotel to check out giant anthills.
We had ridden out about fifteen miles in the heat of the day, so we barely made it back to the city, where we were saved by  Fan Ice , an incredible thing.  Think men on bikes with frozen treats, all over the city. As we chatted and munched, a rat came clambering sadly up the steps of the shop, trying to escape the rain like everyone else. There was a huge commotion as all the women leapt to their feet, grabbing anything close at hand to throw or jab at the poor creature. Finally, one of them struck it a deathblow with the heel of her shoe, and then it was unceremoniously swept out the door and into the alley, where it was swept along in the rushing water.
We ended our day by buying bread and avocados in the market. We enjoyed headquarters plaza hotel our feast while sitting on a couple of wooden crates in an empty market stall, watching the action around headquarters plaza hotel us and talking to curious locals.
I haven't done that in awhile. Wandering is soothing to my soul, even if I am a planner (if I think about it, perhaps because I am a planner).

I noticed on a recent trip to San Antonio that i had too much information when trying to find the right restaurants. I also probably began to get on my husband s nerves a bit with all the research (anyone relate to that?)
I think next time I am going to pick one or two sources and stick with those. We did end up finding some fabulous places, but the three best were actually word of mouth from locals .still my favorite way to do research.
