A dog belonging to the owners is thought to have died in the fire, which tore through the five-storey Astoria Hotel just after 18:00 Sunday, but nobody else was found in the property after an extensive search by firefighters was undertaken.
The Blackpool Gazette reports that 75 firefighters attended the blaze as it quickly engulfed the guest house, situated on Albert Road. Indeed, the fire was so serious that 14 fire engines from across the area including stations at Blackpool, Fleewood, Blackburn, St Annes and Bamber Bridge attended the scene.
