Nick Foles is the talk of the town entering week 11, as he has the Eagles looking strong at 5-5. He also has the starting quarterback job locked down until further notice, as head coach Chip Kelly noted his impressive 16:0 touchdown to interception ratio and questioned how anyone virtual photo tours of cruise ships could argue against Foles as the starter.
Despite this week’s game being a bitter division rivalry and being a crucial game for both teams, it actually only comes in at $186 on average, with a reasonable get-in tag of $77 . The magnitude of this one, potentially lifting Philly to a 6-5 record and the lead in the NFC East, naturally has it coming in at 9% more expensive than normal Eagles tickets at home, while the visitors see a minimal 3% uptick when it comes to the average Redskins tickets away from FedEx Field.
While Michael Vick arguably fit Kelly’s high-octane offense better from an athletic standpoint, Foles has absolutely run the offense to it’s highest potential. Not convinced? Try Foles’ NFL-record-tying seven touchdowns in a single game two weeks ago.
This game doesn’t have the explosive allure of a Michael Vick versus Robert Griffin III showdown, but it’s arguably much more interesting, given how prolific and effective Foles has been in this offense. Add in the fact that Washington has one of the worst pass defenses in the league, and there is a realistic chance virtual photo tours of cruise ships Foles goes off for the third straight week.

By Kevin McGuire For the second week in a row, the Philadelphia Eagles will be facing a quarterback product of Purdue, but this weekend the Eagles cannot afford to let the former Boilermaker quarterback expose the open field as much as they did in Dallas. Kyle Orton substituted admirably for an injured Tony Romo last weekend for the Dallas Cowboys, and nearly hampton beach new hampshire vacation rentals led them to a division championship before throwing the football to Brandon Boykin, who stepped in front of a pass to pick off the late pass and begin the celebration for the Eagles. This week the Eagles hampton beach new hampshire vacation rentals take on Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints in the NFC Wild Card playoff round, Saturday night at Lincoln Financial Field.
Brees and Orton may have come out of Purdue s football program at a time when the program was playing on a different level it is today, but the similarities tend to stop there. Brees is a Super Bowl champion with numbers Orton may only dream of having. Orton would not be alone, of course. The majority of quarterbacks in the NFL would be envious of the production Brees puts together, outside of Peyton Manning, Tom Brady and perhaps Aaron Rogers. hampton beach new hampshire vacation rentals Eagles defensive coordinator Bill Davis needs no education hampton beach new hampshire vacation rentals on just how valuable Brees is to the New Orleans offense.
Drew Brees has excellent numbers, Blitz, no blitz, coverage, non‑coverage, Davis said Tuesday. This offense is so efficient, and it is run on Drew Brees and his decision making and quick release, and he really makes you defend the field both horizontally and vertically because all five of his eligible receivers are up and active like a lot of the younger quarterbacks cannot pull that off and a lot of the older quarterbacks can t but he s been in the system and been with Sean [Payton] for a while and they just really stretch you, again, both vertically and horizontally. Brees can be patient behind a steady offensive line. The Eagles struggled to bring a pass rush on Orton many times on Sunday night, so look for the defensive line to try and correct that this week against New Orleans. Easier said than done of course. Brees is most effective when he can sit in the pocket, scan the field and find the open receiver. That task becomes much more cumbersome when he has to be forced to move around, not that he is not dangerous then either though. If the Eagles can force him to feel uncomfortable under center, the rest of the Saints offense may struggle to pick up the slack. I think the key is to change up that type of coverage and it s more about the quarterback than the actual coverage and what he s looking at and what he sees and how quick he can read it, Davis said. He s seen every coverage and he s seen all kinds of different tactics, and then so has Sean and they have got adjustments to everything. I think constantly kind of shifting hampton beach new hampshire vacation rentals it on them is the best way to go about it.
That makes preparing for Brees difficult. The first task for the defense should be to prepare the coverage plans as best as possible. As Davis said, it will be nothing Brees has not seen before, but staying on the receivers hampton beach new hampshire vacation rentals and not allowing any open space will be critical. The better covered the field is, the more likely it will be for the defensive front to crack in to the backfield and bring pressure on the confident Brees.

I don t want to comment on any player, but how could you not be impressed with Nick and everything he s accomplished? owner Jeffrey mgm grand casino las vegas Lurie said following Saturday night s 26-24 loss to New Orleans mgm grand casino las vegas in an NFC wild-card playoff game . Including tonight; no turnovers, led us back from 20-7. Incredibly impressive.
If the Eagles going from worst to first under rookie coach Chip Kelly was the biggest surprise, Foles emergence had to be second mgm grand casino las vegas on that list. He was outstanding after replacing an injured Michael Vick in Week 5.
Foles threw 29 touchdown passes, including two against the Saints, and only two interceptions, setting an NFL record for best TD/interception ratio. His passer rating of 119.2 was the third-highest in NFL history. He finished 8-3 as a starter.
mgm grand casino las vegas I know that this season is over, but we re going to keep working and growing as a team, Foles said. I love playing here, I love this city, I love this team, and I love this organization because I know the heart of it. The heart of it is the heart of Philadelphia. Like Coach Kelly said, We fight, and we re going to keep fighting.
Foles wasn t at his best against the Saints, mgm grand casino las vegas contributing to the abrupt end to Philadelphia s season. He completed 23 of 33 passes for 195 yards, two TDs and no interceptions. But he also made some costly decisions.
The biggest mistake was holding the ball far too long and taking a sack for an 11-yard loss early in the second quarter. Alex Henery missed a 48-yard field goal on the next play. Obviously, those extra 11 yards didn t help the kicker mgm grand casino las vegas on a cold, windy night.
It s tough. You don t want to do that, but you have to keep playing to the next play. You can t let a mistake like that — taking mgm grand casino las vegas a sack or an intentional grounding — defeat you on the next one, Foles said.
Kelly already said, jokingly, that Foles is his starter for the next thousand years. While there s no arguing the success Foles had , there s no denying his lack of speed isn t ideal to run some of the zone-read plays Kelly features in his up-tempo offense.
Those plays didn t work against the Saints, who held NFL rushing champion LeSean McCoy to just 77 yards on 21 carries. Because Foles isn t a threat to keep the ball and make big gains, the Saints focused on shutting down McCoy whenever the Eagles ran a zone-read play. Foles kept the ball once and ran for 3 yards.
So, it wouldn t be a surprise if the Eagles mgm grand casino las vegas try to retain Vick as the backup. Vick made $7 million this season on a restructured deal. He won the starting job in training camp and played well early in the season before suffering a hamstring mgm grand casino las vegas injury.
Michael has been as impressive (as Foles) to us just internally, Lurie said. Incredibly mature teammate, leader and somebody who helped Nick tremendously. He s been a joy to have. He represented the team always with class. I didn t know a lot about Michael before he came, heard a lot, and he s been very impressive.
Vick was 20-20 as a starter for the Eagles, and has missed at least three games to injuries each of the past four years. He ll be 34 when next season starts, considers himself a starter mgm grand casino las vegas and should have opportunities to be the No. 1 guy elsewhere. But he also has said he s open to returning.
No matter what happens with Vick, the Eagles might look to draft a quarterback as insurance if Foles turns out to be a one-year wonder. Rookie Matt Barkley struggled in limited action this season, and probably wouldn t be higher than a No. 3 next season.

The NFL regular season concluded in dramatic fashion with the win-and-in NFC East showdown between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Dallas Cowboys. Philly came out on top securing a playoff berth and their first division title in three years. In similar fashion, Green Bay locked up the NFC North earlier in the day, earning a playoff berth of their own in Aaron Rodgers return. Perhaps the most exciting game of the day took place at Qualcomm Stadium between the San Diego Chargers and Kansas City Chiefs. Thanks to some help from the Cincinnati Bengals and New York Jets in the morning, the Chargers knew that if they could beat the Chiefs who were sitting a majority of their starters, they would earn the final AFC Wild Card spot. Rivers and company did just that, holding off the Chiefs backups 27-24.
The Bolts grabbed the attention of NFL fans and the league Sunday, proving that they can strike at any time. Hopefully San Diego is feeling recharged, because they ll have to face the perfect-at-home Bengals Sunday at Paul Brown Stadium. Cincinnati playoff tickets are currently going for under face value on Razorgator with the cheapest seats for Bengals fans listed at $66. It s surprising that the Wild Card game is not sold-out considering the franchise has a chance to win their first playoff game since 1990. Who wants to miss that?
It was just a week ago that we saw these two AFC foes face off. The Chiefs do not need to be reminded of the thrashing defeat at home in which Alex Smith was responsible for three turnovers. All will be forgotten however if KC can trump Andrew Luck in Indy; a feat not out of reach considering a majority of their starters will be on two weeks rest. The first Wild Card round game this Saturday is a mere $62 to get in to when the Chiefs and Colts lay it all out for their chance to advance to the Divisional round.
In a rematch of last year s Divisional playoff game, two of the NFC s biggest heavy weights hilton head vacation rentals will meet in the most expensive Wild Card game of the season. The Niners won the playoff game last year and proved to be on top again in the 2013 season opener at The Stick when Colin Kaepernick threw for 412 yards and three touchdowns. The QB continues hilton head vacation rentals to be a dual threat and the Niners are arguably the hottest team in the NFL right now. Riding on the momentum from Sunday, Green Bay is looking to break San Francisco hilton head vacation rentals s winning streak. hilton head vacation rentals With the NFC North crown now in hand, the Packers appear relatively healthy just in time for the NFL Playoffs. In fact it was recently cleared Aaron Rodgers and Randall Cobb who connected late in the fourth quarter Sunday to move the Packers hilton head vacation rentals past the Bears and into the postseason. The Green Gold won t have to pay much more than a regular hilton head vacation rentals season game at Lambeau Field to watch their boys fight for redemption against their nemesis, the 9ers. Green Bay Packers Playoff tickets start at $156 for the most intriguing game of the Week.
The only two teams that did not previously meet during the regular season New Orleans Saints and Philadelphia Eagles will convene at Lincoln Financial Field Saturday evening. Both teams clinched a playoff berth this past Sunday; the Eagles with a close victory over the Cowboys for the NFC East title and the Saints with a rout over the Bucs. After losing the division title to the Panthers last weekend, New Orleans will have to play their first round playoff game on the road in Philly. While the Eagles started the season 0-4 at home, Chip Kelly and Co. have soared ever since going 4-0 at Lincoln Financial Field to finish. Nick Foles may be a rookie to the playoff scene but he posted the best touchdown-to-interception hilton head vacation rentals ratio in NFL history. Opposite, veteran QB Drew Brees will be at the helm for the Saints who have made five playoff appearances in the last decade. Attend this rookie-vs-veteran showdown for as little as $137. Take note: the Eagles haven t won a playoff game at home since 2006 when they beat the Giants. The Saints haven t won a road playoff game ever.

It was at bend 10 that I started questioning my sanity. I was lying on my stomach with my chin about an inch from the ice, struggling to keep my grip as I hurtled at 50mph down the Olympic bob run on nothing more than a tea tray on skates .
The high-octane skeleton ride was the finale of my visit to the picturesque Norwegian winter sports resort of Lillehammer, 110 miles north of Oslo and home to the 1994 Winter Olympics. Situated next to a lake, the town has plenty of cross-country ski trails and beautifully lit ski-jump ramps, a permanent reminder of the Games. I arrived a little after 2pm, just as the sun was setting, and wandered along the pedestrianised shopping street, admiring the pretty 19th century wooden shops with their steep roofs and wrought-iron signs. The towering Norges Bank could easily be mistaken for a cathedral. A former brewery is home to a steak restaurant and an old mill has been converted into the M lla Hotell, an eight-storey affair with a rooftop bar offering superb views of Lake Mj sa, the River L gen and the surrounding mountains.
My friends and I spent our first evening sitting at the wooden bar surrounded by photographs from the 1994 Games. We could see the Olympic Park, a 15-minute drive from the town centre. Here tourists are free to look around miami car rentals the venues but have to pay to visit the Olympic Museum or try the activities such as tobogganing and airboarding (shooting down the hill on a small air bed, which looks great fun). I took the chairlift to the top of one of the ski jumps. Looking miami car rentals down the 394ft ramp made me feel queasy. miami car rentals Two of the resort s more accessible winter sports that I was happy to try were curling miami car rentals and the biathlon. Curling reminded me of 10-pin bowling but a lot harder. Instead of throwing the stone you launch miami car rentals yourself off a starting block before letting go of it. Brushing the ice increases the distance it travels but staying upright while furiously sweeping and moving is tricky.
The biathlon (a mix of crosscountry skiing and target miami car rentals shooting) is a little easier. We were fortunate to be at the park when the Norwegian national team were training and got to see the professionals on the ski-jump.
Standing under the lip of the ramp and watching them fl y off into nothingness was breathtaking. After an exhilarating but very cold day, we were greeted by a roaring fire in the lounge of our hotel, the Rica Victoria, and a barrel of glug (mulled wine with nuts and raisins). miami car rentals The next morning we headed for the bobsleigh track for what was to be the experience of a lifetime.
About nine miles from Lillehammer, it was built for the 1994 Games and will host the 2016 Winter Youth Olympics. The course is 0.8 miles long, has 16 bends and an 8.5 per cent gradient. In a four-man bob you hit 75mph and get the sort of G force endured by F1 drivers. After signing disclaimers and donning helmets, four of us climbed into the rocket-shaped box they call a taxi bob . Our pilot, Ivan, took the helm and we set off, completing the near mile-long journey in only 55 seconds, miami car rentals which passed in a blur. More of the same was to come, but this time flying solo and lying on my stomach. Ivan threw me a padded suit and pointed to the frail-looking skeleton. I began to worry the moment I set off. First my shoulders hit the left wall, then the right. The ice below my nose whooshed past, the noise resembling thunder. The handrails by my thighs became my only grip on life as I zipped through the bends, desperately clinging on. Just under 72 seconds later I came to a halt and rolled off. I had just done the skeleton on the Lillehammer Olympic bob run and felt great if a little bruised. I may, however, have left it a little late for a ticket to Russia as the Games start on February 3.

As the fastest growing segment in domestic tourism, the sports travel industry means big dollars to destinations large and small. Professional and collegiate games have long represented tried and true revenue to the towns and cities on their rotation schedule, but it’s the amateur and youth competitions, along with individual sports activities, that are putting relatively viking river cruises unknown destinations on the travel map.
Convention and visitors bureaus (CVBs) that have marketed their cities and regions to the business and tourist trades for decades are now dedicating marketing dollars to reaching and serving the sports market viking river cruises ; a recent survey of its members by Destination Marketing Association International (DMAI) reveals viking river cruises that 80% of responding CVBs allocate monies to sports sales and marketing efforts. 80% of responding CVBs allocate monies to sports sales and marketing efforts. Many CVBs dedicate a full time sales professional to the sports market; larger sports destinations may have a sports sales and marketing department, and approximately 20 CVBs in major sports destinations viking river cruises fund a sports commission viking river cruises division.
The revenue derived from teams, spectators and individual sports enthusiasts benefits not only the hosting hotels, restaurants and venues, but actually stimulates the entire local economy. Ultimately the hotel taxes paid by out of town guests funnel through local government to provide jobs, improve viking river cruises infrastructure and pay for community services. Naturally the competition viking river cruises between destinations for this lucrative business is fierce, and it stands to reason that the local government and community stakeholders foot the bill to equip the CVB with the experts and tools to win those all-important sports bids.
Now you know why convention and visitors bureaus are eager to win your business, but how does it benefit you, the planner, to make the CVB your very first point of contact viking river cruises in any location? As the destination expert, the CVB has a comprehensive view of the region, is schooled in all the potential venues for any sports program, and has local expertise and extensive in-market relationships that can be of benefit to you and your event. And, because their services are funded by the local government and stakeholders, CVB services are FREE to you.
Todd Lehrke viking river cruises is the associate director of sports development at the Bloomington, MN convention and visitors bureau, where 45% of all group room nights viking river cruises are sports related. In addition to providing his sports market customers with the same in-depth destination information that meeting planners receive, Todd cites five important benefits the CVB provides to the sports planner during the site selection viking river cruises process:
Sports focused CVBs have detailed information about venues and facilities in their region and can help you create the right package. “A planner might need 6 baseball fields that have 300 foot fences and night lighting – that type of information the CVB expert has at his fingertips,” says Todd. “We hosted a large softball tournament in August where the attendees stayed in Bloomington but played all of their games in our neighboring suburb of Eagan where there is a complex that met their needs. Our CVB was able to pull that package together because we know what’s available and what works.”
CVBs can assist by leveraging their relationships with key officials, such as venue managers and city officials, making them aware of the positive impact your event would have on the destination; if necessary, they can gather representatives from the city manager’s office, police, transportation and fire departments to be sure all of the logistics affecting the public are coordinated.
The CVB provides early support to local event organizers; if the organizer needs to submit a bid to a governing body, the CVB will work with them to create the request for proposal (RFP) to be sent to the various sports viking river cruises facilities and hotels, and then assist in creating the formal bid presentation to the decision makers.
The CVB will distribute the RFP, field questions from hotels and venues about your event, collect availability and rates on your behalf, and arrange and conduct your site inspection. Todd recalls, “For the 2016 PGA Ryder Cup taking place just minutes west of Bloomington, I collected rates and availability from 25 hotels and then brought in the PGA event manager to tour all of the properties over two days. She knew from working viking river cruises with CVBs in the past that depending on us to collect the housing information and showcase the hotels was the easiest process and a huge time saver.”
The CVB can connect you with an online housing provider to handle lodging logistics, not only simplifying your work load, but often providing viking river cruises revenue to your organization through rebates. According to Eric Knutsen, tournament director of Minnesota Showcase Hockey, Bloomington’s largest hockey client, “The online viking river cruises housing service that the Bloomington CVB has recently implemented allows a streamlined viking river cruises and efficient system for booking rooms as well as reducing our internal work load. We have seen enhanced functionality and increased revenues. It has been a win-win situation for both the BCVB and our organization.”
Based on the size of your event, the CVB can help increase attendance at your event in a myriad of ways including a personalized web landing page or link on the destination’s website, creating a Facebook page, engaging Twitter, providing a mobile app or a YouTube viking river cruises video.
Convention and visitors bureaus are experts at helping event planners obtain media coverage to build community enthusiasm and grow attendance at their event. All CVBs are happy to provide a list of local media contacts for your use, help you write press releases that will capture the media’s attention and distribute press releases on your behalf – at no charge. More time-consuming involvement with newspaper, radio and TV contacts, such as arranging interviews, personally calling reporters with event reminders or including CVB marketing departments in your PR efforts with the media may carry a fee.
Free media announcements and news coverage help you conserve hard marketing dollars; less paid advertising and direct mail marketing is required, thus providing savings that can be directed toward the enhancement of other elements of your event – or just increasing the bottom line.
Dan Ellison, viking river cruises Chief Administrative Officer of the United States Police Fire Championships, is responsible viking river cruises for producing the event which is held annually in San Diego, drawing more than 4,000 law enforcement officers and firefighters from around the country. Dan stresses the media’s role in building and supporting a positive perception of first responders in the San Diego community. A firm believer viking river cruises in the value of CVBs, he works with the San Diego Sports Commission, which is a partner of the San Diego Tourism Authority (formerly the San Diego CVB), to connect him with the media and call their attention to the Championships’ value to the community. “Related human interest stories about the games in the San Diego Union Tribune, clips on the nightly news broadcasts, and mentioning the Championships viking river cruises in radio public viking river cruises service announcements viking river cruises (PSAs) all help create citizen enthusiasm for the fund raising efforts by the San Diego police and fire departments which benefit local at-risk youth,” explains Dan. “And, since media helps publicize that the police and fire departments are involved in neighborhood social responsibility projects, people have a positive perception viking river cruises of us as an important part of the community.”
Another plus: attracting sponsors. Ellison says that media attention of the Championship games has resulted in financial support from Verizon, Kaiser Permanente and Dick’s Sporting Goods, among others; companies that sell to local consumers are eager to be associated with “do good” events as part of their own social responsibility programs and to benefit from one-off positive perception.

The South Rim flights from Las Vegas are a lot of fun too. It takes 5 hours to drive to the South Rim from Vegas, but it only takes an hour to fly there. The basic tour includes a fun 2 hour bus tour of the region while the deluxe tour adds in an exciting national car rental center seating chart helicopter ride across the canyon and along the Dragoon Corridor.
One of the most popular tours of the South Rim is the flight that takes you to the South, North, and East Rims of the canyon and lasts almost an hour. That tour flies over approximately 75% of the National national car rental center seating chart Park. It is a fantastic way to see a huge portion of the region in a limited amount of time.
There is a fairly new air tour option to consider too that includes a raft excursion. After the air tour, you go to Glen Canyon Dam, get in a safari Jeep and ride through Antelope Canyon, which is home to unique slot canyon formations. After that, you hop on a pontoon raft and float 15 miles along the Colorado River. This scenic tour covers smooth water so it is ideal for families with kids as young as 4 years old.
The Memorial Day holiday is a great three-day weekend to spend exploring the magnificent Grand Canyon while the temperatures are still mild. To experience the region as fully as possible, and to do it from a unique perspective, be sure to take an airplane tour. Plus they are a lot of fun and affordable. And since the airplanes hold 19 people, your whole group can travel together. Book your seats early so you won t be disappointed and get the best price by buying them online. Go to the tour operator s site and don t bother with the travel websites. The tour operator is able to give you the biggest discount when you buy online and choose the Internet rate.
Or, if you re looking for an exciting and educational vacation, why not plan a trip through the Cany
In the mercy and kindness of God, I got to go on a trip for Christian Leaders sas airline reservations with my good friends Andy Naselli sas airline reservations and Jason Derouchie , and I have definitive proof that my new friendship with Mike Wittmer has changed his life .
A few logistics and some stray comments before I attempt to combine words to get across the four big things sas airline reservations I want to say about the trip: The expedition was made financially possible by Answers in Genesis , Canyon Ministries , and The Master s Seminary sas airline reservations . I don t know who the donors were (each of us received a $3,300 scholarship), but I hereby register my gratitude for their generosity.
Let me also say that if you re looking for a way to contribute financially to a Bible teacher or Christian sas airline reservations leader having a great time on the river with Christian brothers discussing the age of the earth, the flood, and the Canyon, this is a great cause .
Or, if you re looking for an exciting and educational vacation, why not plan a trip through the Canyon? You won t find a better guide than Tom Vail of Canyon Ministries. The man knows where to find a shaded campsite, how to run a rapid, how to explain the Canyon s geology, how to relate to all kinds of people, and even how to cook a birthday cake down there on the river. I ve heard he catches rattle-snakes if they enter camp (seriously sas airline reservations thankfully no need to this time), and the power of the gospel is heard in his testimony and seen in his actions. Go to the Canyon Ministries website to book your trip.
We entered the river at Lees Ferry, and we helicoptered out 190 miles later, just past Lava Falls. I had never ridden sas airline reservations in a helicopter. I had never been white water rafting. I had never been to the Grand Canyon. I had never slept under the open heavens no tents necessary with no bugs and clear skies. I never imagined I would eat so well on a rafting trip.
I had no idea the Colorado River was so cold 47 degrees and wouldn t have expected bathing and doing laundry in it to be so easy (ok, it took a couple days to get used to the shiver-inducing cold of the water). Nor could I have imagined that the Little Colorado River would look like the clear blue waters of the Caribbean, or that flash flooding upriver could make the water of the Colorado look like Chocolate Milk. Willy Wonka would be proud.
If you want to feel small, high thee up on that ledge above Deer Creek Falls that leads to Upper Deer Creek. Jason Derouchie has nerves of steel. sas airline reservations He was standing right next to that ledge! I was with Mike Wittmer trying to get as close to the cliff sloping up behind it as possible. Eventually we agreed it was better not even to look at those guys who were so close to it. Especially when Nate started mocking us by acting like he was going to lunge off the ledge. Crazy. I was claiming sas airline reservations Psalm 121:3, He will not let your foot be moved.
I wish my words were as beautiful as the Canyon s splendors. It s a place worthy of poets. Pictures can t do it justice, but my sweet wife checked out several sas airline reservations picture books on the Canyon from the local public library so she and the kids could have a glimpse sas airline reservations of its glory.
At the end of the trip we received Tom Vail s book, Grand Canyon: A Different sas airline reservations View . When she saw it, my lovely sas airline reservations wife said, This is what I was hoping for from the books we got from the library; sas airline reservations these pictures are far superior. Its message is, too.
At one point you re a mile deep from river to rim. As you pass through the Upper Granite Gorge and the Middle Granite Gorge (we choppered out before the Lower Granite Gorge), you re in canyons within the Canyon, and the walls of granite rise so steep and high that the outer rim cannot be seen.
Thirty-two men on two boats rafting down the Colorado River. Away from wives, kids, and work responsibilities. No cell phone signals, no laptops, no blogs, twitter feeds, or facebook pages. Walls of rock rise on either side of the river. Eat. Raft. Eat. Raft. Hike. Raft. Eat. Sleep on a cot on a piece of sand in a bend of the River. When you wake up you re with the same guys ready to sit on the boat again for hours. Plenty of time to talk. Long conversations punctuated by blasts through drenching sas airline reservations rapids.
What a blessing to walk through life with Christian brothers. There is indeed a unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There were four men from the UK, an Australian, and Americans from California and Virginia, Minnesota and Georgia, and a bunch of places in between. It was a blessing to strengthen old friendships and start new ones.
That massive and beautiful Canyon was cut by water. A lot of water moving fast. A catastrophic amount of water. It s stunning, really, to look at the Canyon and imagine how much water moved through there. Sea water, no less, as evidenced by many, many fossils of salt-water critters.
Anyone who has read the opening pages of my recent book knows that I love guided tours. Even better than some device with a recording is a live tour guide who is a good teacher and likes to answer sas airline reservations questions. Andrew Snelling was our live and in person sas airline reservations geologist through the Canyon. You can check out his writing in short or long form. In addition to Andrew guiding us through the rocks, Bill Barrick was there to guide us through relevant passages of Scripture. What a blessing to be taught by these men.
We had many discussions of the age of the earth as well, and Terry Mortenson took the lead in these. I m a convinced young-earther who thinks that flood was global. As World magazine s books of the year demonstrate, this is a hot topic. Some have recently advocated the idea that what threatens fidelity is not the idea of an old earth but of theistic evolution . With that I m sympathetic, and I also think the Preface to the Chicago Statement on Biblical Inerrancy is relevant to this dispute, as it shows men humbly contending earnestly for the truth. For this we should strive as we engage old-earthers (among whom, apparently, we find Augustine, Thomas Chalmers, C. H. Spurgeon, B. B. Warfield, James M. Boice, and Wayne Grudem).
We see it as our timely duty to make this affirmation sas airline reservations in the face of current sas airline reservations lapses from the truth of inerrancy among our fellow Christians and misunderstanding of this doctrine in the world at large.
We offer this Statement in a spirit, not of contention, but of humility and love, which we propose by God s grace to maintain in any future sas airline reservations dialogue arising out of what we have said. We gladly acknowledge that many who deny the inerrancy of Scripture do not display the consequences of this denial in the rest of their belief and behavior, and we are conscious that we who confess this doctrine often deny it in life by failing to bring our thoughts and deeds, our traditions and habits, into true subjection to the divine Word.
We invite response sas airline reservations to this Statement from any who see reason to amend its affirmations about Scripture by the light of Scripture itself, under whose infallible sas airline reservations authority we stand as we speak. We claim no personal infallibility for the witness we bear, and for any help that enables us to strengthen this testimony to God s Word we shall be grateful.
The waters of the Colorado are powerful, as can be seen in this clip (note how the guy seated front left has his hat knocked off his head when the water rushes over him, and enjoy Derouchie s fist pumping enthusiasm when he has passed through the waters):
All this water, however, does not appear to be now widening the river s banks or deepening its channel, which seems to indicate that the Canyon was cut by a catastrophic, unprecedented, and unrepeated flow of water. My mind can barely begin to imagine the fury of the raging waters of Noah s flood. Praise God that Jesus was baptized in the flood-waters of God s wrath so that those who trust in him are delivered, sas airline reservations as Noah was in the ark.
My gratitude to those who made the trip possible runs deep. I m thankful for those who made it financially possible, but the deepest waters of thanksgiving flow toward my family. My sweet wife rejoiced in the opportunity to hold down the fort with our four kids, and my heroic dad came to help while I was away. The deep channels of their sacrificial love caused soaring heights of joy when I finally got home. I am the most blessed husband and father in the world.
My sons prepared for my arrival with a note taped to the door of our home, Dad s Home, Yippee! And they made a lap-book of the Grand Canyon . Is it possible to describe what I felt when those three boys, 7, 5, and 3 years old, clambered out of the van and sprinted down the sidewalk at the airport to fling themselves into my arms? I hope they have sons like themselves, and I hope the Lord gives them each a wife like their mother. And then there was the joy of that wobbly five month old baby girl, with her bright-eyed smile and delightful pre-word baby cooing.
The Canyon was enormous and beautiful. sas airline reservations The friendships renewed and formed full of joy and promise. The thought of the flood-waters of judgment that cut those rocks, leaving beauty in the wake of destruction (ahem, God s glory in salvation through judgment) evokes praise for the Maker of the mountains. Coming home to my sweet wife and our four little ones is like stepping into a dream come true.
This is just how I remember sas airline reservations it. Great writing that captures sas airline reservations the experience. I m grateful to God for the trip, the sponsors, sas airline reservations Tom Vail, and your new friendship. My wife mentioned something that I hadn t thought of that I don t have normal opportunities to spend that much alone time with other men. That was undoubtedly part of the richness of the experience. But it s still good to be home!
PawPaw was hugging that slope too. He and Anna coined the phrase, I m brave but not that brave as Cora I looked over the edge. I guess it s true that some apples don t fall far from their tree. I m glad you had a great time!
Glad to see godly men spending time in fellowship and standing sas airline reservations in awe of the wonders of His creation. And for the sponsors, this looks to have been a great investment and I am s
Rafting the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon is truly one of the greatest adventures a person
Rafting the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon is truly one of the greatest adventures a person can take. Although widely known for its whitewater rapids, the river is calm for 91% of its length in the canyon, providing new york boutique hotel a glorious "highway" new york boutique hotel of desert scenery and canyon geology. Each year I offer a 10-day trip down the river and here are a few of the pictures I took on this years trip. A river trip in Grand Canyon starts new york boutique hotel at historic Lees Ferry, where the Kaibab Limestone comes to the surface. You can see the top of the Kaibab Ls. as the white layer above, capped by the reddish Moenkopi Fm. Amazingly, this is the same layer that all visitors to the North and South Rim stand on when they visit the more populated parts of the national park. From Lees Ferry, it is 88 miles by river to Phantom Ranch and the river cuts down 650 feet. So how come the canyon is 5,000 feet deep at Phantom? The answer is found in the way the rocks themselves are arched up to the south, providing most of the depth of the Grand Canyon. Marble Canyon is a photographers paradise and was named by John Wesley Powell for the way the Redwall Limestone appears like polished marble when abraded by the river. Here are a series of caverns found in the Redwall in Marble Canyon. These caverns formed by groundwater solutioning before the canyon was cut. An exciting new proposal by Dr. Carol Hill suggests that a portion new york boutique hotel of the Colorado River may have been positioned with the collapse of such caverns. Participant Bill Merrow (on his third consecutive trip with me in Grand Canyon) looks at the grave of Peter Hansborough near Eminence Break. Hansborough lost his life in the 1889 Stanton Expedition (which did not use life jackets). His body was found in an eddy near here and he was buried beneath this small cliff. The inscription above the grave. The moon rises over the east wall of Marble Canyon. On this trip we had many starry nights after the moon set behind the cliffs. A beautiful new york boutique hotel view downstream new york boutique hotel in Marble Canyon from the Eminence Break trail. The river was emerald green in the first 62 miles of our trip. An oar powered boat enters President Harding Rapid at mile 44 (mileages on the river are measured from Lees Ferry which is mile 0). The 1923 Birdseye new york boutique hotel Expedition laid over here when they heard the news that President Warren Harding died. A sandbar is framed by reflections in the river. Such bars were once more common along the Colorado River but most sediment is now trapped behind new york boutique hotel Glen Canyon Dam - the river in Grand Canyon is often sediment starved. That is why artificial floods are sometimes created with releases from the dam. These floods are controversial because water and power managers are loathe to release stored water that does not make power. However, the native fish require the backwaters near these sandbars to reproduce. Discussions new york boutique hotel about dam management and native species are an added attraction to these educational trips. Long before there were advanced forms of life, algae ruled the world. Here on the Carbon new york boutique hotel Creek Beach are the fossil remains of stromatolites, ancient algae that flourished in a warm sea some 800 million years ago. Here we completed a 4-mile loop hike to see the deposits where this algae can be found. Along the Butte Fault in eastern Grand Canyon are rocks belonging to the Chuar Group. They are as colorful as the much younger Chinle Fm. but formed in shallow marine environments about 800 million years ago. Bob, Howard, Beth, and Bill pose in front of a colorful (and highly faulted) wall of the Chuar Group. new york boutique hotel Very few visitors to Grand Canyon ever see these rocks as they are only exposed away from the river in a remote part of the canyon. This is where the Colorado River crosses the Butte Fault at Tanner Rapid (mile 69). The dark Cardenas Lava has been faulted 1,100 against the reddish Dox Sandstone. Multiple periods of movement are documented on this fault including Precambrian extension (shown here) and Laramide compression (which created the East Kaibab new york boutique hotel monocline). After running Hance Rapids, the river enters the Upper Granite Gorge, a fantastic and deeply cut inner canyon along the river. One of the exciting "discoveries" on this years trip were these very unique and rare rock types that we visited during lunch at 91 mile Canyon. new york boutique hotel The rocks are dark green in color and their mineralogy new york boutique hotel suggests that they were part of the earth's mantle that got caught up in the folding and deformation of the Vishnu Schist. new york boutique hotel Howard Capito sits on these ultra-mafic rocks in 91 Mile Canyon. new york boutique hotel One of Grand Canyon's greatest secrets (revealed repeatedly as you travel down the river) is how many of the side canyons new york boutique hotel have waterfalls and clear running streams. Elves Chasm is always a delight to river runners but just outside this little grotto are massive deposits of travertine new york boutique hotel that document that this little stream is just a tiny remnant of what used to be inside the Grand Canyon. Ice Age conditions here were wetter and provided a lot more groundwater for springs than are now observed. I love seeing ancient topography preserved in the modern landscape! And just downstream from Stone Creek (mile 132) is an excellent example of where ancient islands in the sea became buried by beach sand (Tapeats Sandstone). In the photo above, see if you can find the island mass and the deposit that buried it? If not, look at the next photo. This is a close-up view of the same photo and includes a red line that outlines the Tapeats Sandstone. Note the angled beds of Shinumo Quartzite below this. The bottom red line marks an ancient surface (some 525 million new york boutique hotel years ago) that existed on an island within the Tapeats Sea. As sea level rose sand was progressively deposited on this surface. Note on the far right that the islands top was not buried in sediment until Bright Angel Shale time. This is living geology! Here is another island topped by Tapeats Sandstone farther downstream on the trip. The island this time is composed of Bass Limestone (dark, slightly angled cliff) and you can see the lighter colored and thinly bedded Tapeats Sandstone on top of it. Here is a view downstream on the river at mile 134, where a massive slide came down the walls of Grand Canyon and filled an old channel of the Colorado River. The slide material is light in color compared to the darker old walls of the canyon. Here is a picture with lines drawn to help you see the old channel and walls of the Grand Canyon. Some of these slides were powerful enough to run-up onto the opposite slope across the river. Note the rusty brown beds sitting atop the dark brown Tapeats Sandstone here. These rusty brown beds originated new york boutique hotel on the other side of the Colorado River (right) and slide progressively up onto the southern walls of the canyon (left). This deposit is called Poncho's radical run-up. We were able to stop and hike in Matkatamiba Canyon where a fantastic limestone amphitheater awaited us. Bighorn sheep abound in the Grand Canyon and on this trip we saw at least 30 of them at close range. They are sure footed in this rocky terrain. Our group scouting Lava Falls from the right bank. Cactus family at the Lava Falls scout. Here is a view of the rapid on the morning of September 19. While we were scouting and taking pictures new york boutique hotel of the rapid, a group of kayakers new york boutique hotel came through and we were able to watch them. Imagine what it must feel like to be in such a small craft up against these big waves. They all did really well though and it was obvious that they were not intimidated by the white water. Scared most likely new york boutique hotel but not intimidated. Almost buried completely in huge waves. new york boutique hotel Enjoying the show. And then someone entered the rapid on a paddle board! Wow! We had a great run in the rapid in our 38 foot long boat. Downstream from the falls, we saw evidence for a great outpouring of lava into the river channel. This is one of the most fascinating parts of a Grand Canyon river trip. The lava starting flowing about 720,000 years ago and the history of these flows is still written on the walls of the canyon. Cooling fractures in a wall of basalt (early morning light). Across from Whitmore Wash (mile 188) is an outburst flood deposit. On at least five occasions, lava dams that had formed across the channel of the river were catastrophically destroyed and huge floods rampaged the lower Grand Canyon. Here is a picture of one such deposit sitting on top of a previously new york boutique hotel emplaced flow. Note the large house-sized boulders within the deposit that dip from left to right. These have been interpreted as huge foresets - essentially migrating sediment that is being pushed downstream during the outburst flood. We camped that evening near Pumpkin Spring and above the camp was a very unusual looking deposit so I went up to investigate. It was composed almost entirely of basalt lava rock and sand. I thought to myself, "What conditions would only make a deposit of lava rock?" Outburst floods was the answer. Here, Beth Rambikur gives scale to this likely slackwater facies of an outburst flood deposit. Morning light on the walls of the lower Grand Canyon. Group shot of the 2010 trip at Travertine Grotto. Vivian Ross, who celebrated her birthday on the trip. Brandon (rear), Tedi Johnson, Delores Manburg, and Nancy Seaman. Dana and Audrey Wingate, and Laura and John Zambrano. On the last day of the trip we had floated through almost the whole of Grand Canyon and the normally red Supai Group had changed into a whitish limestone. This documents that ancient rivers were present in the eastern part of Grand Canyon but eventually entered the sea and marine environments towards the west. The newest deposit in Grand Canyon - the Lake Mead Formation. new york boutique hotel Ten years of drought have lowered Lake Mead such that the river has reclaimed much of the lower Grand Canyon. Here the river has incised into lake

What do Grand Canyon birding, condors and geology have commonly? It s Nature Celebration and the Verde Valley Birding, a growing annual executive inn in owensboro affair at Dead Horse State Park, just outside Cottonwood, Arizona. It s coming up soon, on April 23 26, 2009.
Which brings me to my next level: executive inn in owensboro During summer executive inn in owensboro and breaks, helicopter tours regularly sell-out. To defeat the rush, book atleast a week or two beforehand. If you fail to accomplish that, thereis a great possibility which you won t get flying. If thatis the circumstance, take a jet journey will often and since they fit up to 19 people have chairs.
Remember to consider frequent breaks and opening stops to rest. You will be reducing your energy at the same moment you can take pleasure in the surroundings as well as the landscapes. Deliver reading material or study up-on hiking in the canyon. You can even request the rangers to learn more. Some often underestimate executive inn in owensboro the dangers of walking because they regard climbing being a simple thing to perform. Itis superior while the Canyon is just a big construction to become organized plus it can be extremely easy-to executive inn in owensboro wander away or have a collision.
One of the West Wheelis greatest attractions may be the Grand Canyon Skywalk. Known as the Glass Link, the walkway is actually a remarkable construction executive inn in owensboro that enables guests stroll 70 feet past the side. Before you understand it, you re standing 3,500 feet over the underside! Opinions from your bridge are off the graphs. Skywalk air trips are just accessible from Las Vegas; you ll find no connecting flights involving the rims.
There are lots of things you can do at Grand Canyon National Park. But I do believe one of the greatest day trips could be the sleek-water rafting one day tour, particularly when it is bundled executive inn in owensboro by you by having an airplane journey to the Glen Canyon Dam. After you finish this knowledge the sensation of getting achieved something special pervades executive inn in owensboro you. Plus it should. The cold waters of the Colorado River beckon not just river rafters such as us but also anglers of all sorts. Many an inquisitive fishermen has phoned our office regarding fishing opportunities on their Grand Canyon rafting trips . After all, fishing is an art form that brings the participant immeasurably closer to nature than they could ever imagine. Between holiday car rental paris the fish, the bugs, the line and the scenery it would be difficult to get any closer to the promise of tranquility than when fishing in Grand Canyon.
The River: Remember that the mighty Colorado River was naturally a muddy river pre-dam. With the installment of Glen Canyon Dam much of the silt from upriver does not make it all the way down. Thus, from the Dam to Lees Ferry the river runs clear almost all year round. Below Lees Ferry there are quite a few side creeks and streams that flow into the river and during monsoon (July-September) season they can carry much of that natural sediment into the main channel. This might impact your fishing experience.
The Fish: Though trout are the main attraction when fishing the Colorado River, remember that they are not a natural species to this river. They greatly prefer the cool and clear portions of the river closer to the Dam. Thus the best trout fishing is at the beginning of the trip from Lees Ferry to the confluence of the Little Colorado River. The average for these guys is between 12-14” and usually Rainbows though you might find an occasional Brown. As you head downstream towards Lake Mead the water warms a bit and has more risk of not being clear. The natural fish, such as the endangered Humpback Chub, love the warmer water and the sediment holiday car rental paris but the trout not so much. Especially below Phantom Ranch you might experience more carp and suckers than trout.
The When and Where: Fishing is never allowed from our moving rafts. You may fish at camp both in the morning and evening and at any side stops. Make sure you discuss fishing with your guide beforehand to make sure it is okay at that specific location. Sometimes there might be too many boats or not enough time.
Gear: Most anglers on the Colorado River use a 9’ 5 Wt Rod. A four piece rod is preferable because they are more compact for storing while on the river. Make sure to bring a hard rod tube. For leader usually a 9’5x and tippet we recommend either 4x or 5x. Throw in a few lead weights also for when you need those things to drop. We don’t recommend bringing any sort of waders. There is limited space on the raft and they won’t benefit you much.
Bugs: Use barbless hooks for easy release. You have multiple options here how to fish and it really depends holiday car rental paris on the river conditions and the weather. Bead head wooley buggers are always holiday car rental paris a great bet especially holiday car rental paris in olive or brown. Whether holiday car rental paris the river is running clear or muddy this is a great way to go. If you prefer using a dry or sub-surface fishing just note that the fish are not found in as large of concentrations as upstream and it will be more difficult if the river is muddy. We recommend using a dry-dropper technique. For the dry – something big and buggy like a stimulator. Sub-surface use something like a prince nymph or the ever popular zebra midge. If you are nymphing try scuds (pink or burnt orange) or San Juan worms (red or brown) as well and make sure your indicator is not too bright especially when it is sunny. Look for good seams and slower moving holiday car rental paris water.
*Note: Fly fishing on a rafting trip can be a bit cumbersome. We don’t recommend bringing any waders or boots. If you are going to go this route, just fish from the beaches at camp and keep it mellow. If the water clouds up you might be disappointed.
Gear: The owner, Steve Hatch, likes to bring an ice fishing style rod that is short so that it can be more mobile. Make sure you have lighter monofilament line on it, like 4 or 6 lb test. Also, collapsible spin rods work great. Either way, make sure you have a rigid rod tube to store your rod.
Lures/Bugs: Use single, barbless hooks for easy release. Maribou jigs can be a great way to go. Same as wooley buggers we like black and brown preferable ¼ oz. Make sure they are getting down, though. Also, Kastmasters in gold, silver or trout pattern work well. The color depends on sun conditions. Panther Martins and Super Dupers in similar colors work too.
If you are on the Full or Upper Canyon portion of the trip, stop in the shop at Cliff Dwellers Lodge. They not only provide the lodging for our guests but they are also a top notch fly shop. They can sell you a license, gear and bugs if you forgot anything. Questions about guided fishing beforehand? Give them a call at 800-962-9755. For current river conditions you can call Hatch at 800-856-8966.

When we first met the property, it was going to the home of a shiny new condo block. When the market tanked, gears shifted and it was pegged as an apartment building. As the recession dragged on, it was re-imagined as a modest office tower. And now it has finally made the transition to the newly fashionable style of land use: The hotel sandwich.
According to an e-mail alert from 42nd Ward Alderman Brendan Reilly, Jupiter Realty wants to put up a single building with a Hampton Inn on top and a Homewood Suites hotel metropole bellagio on the bottom. Or the other way around.
We ve seen this kind of hotel layering before in Chicago, such as at the proposed Hyatt House-over-Hyatt Place at Rush and Superior. In other cities it s been done with brands as tony as the Four Seasons.

It looks good enough. If I had one suggestion, I would like to see those two faux brick buildings have a different look to each other, to make them appear even more like old buildings, and not just clones hotel metropole bellagio of each other.

Supporters of HS2 assert that it will cause prosperity cruise around hawaii to trickle down from London to the entire North of England, writes Tony Payne. But economic theory and hard experience tell us that the reverse is more probable - that it will help London to 'suck out' northern wealth.
In the global context 'north' and 'south' have always been contested concepts. They sought cruise around hawaii to capture what has long been deemed to be an important binary distinction between modernising and backward areas, between developed and developing parts of the world, between rich and poor countries.
The language has altered over the years, but the core idea has persisted and was given its "north-south" cruise around hawaii expression most famously on the cover of the Pan edition of the Brandt cruise around hawaii Commission report of 1983.
This depicted a Peters Projection of the globe with a red wavy line running along the US-Mexican border, cruise around hawaii through cruise around hawaii the Mediterranean, across the southern perimeter of the USSR and then dropping sharply downwards to sweep up Australia and New Zealand with the USA, Europe and the USSR into the developed, so-called 'north'.
In Sheffield, we know that we are located in the north of England. This is a matter of geography. You can argue, cruise around hawaii as Owen Jones has recently done, that "the north-south divide is a myth - and a distraction" , highlighting the obvious reality that the divisions of power and wealth in England actually play out in much more complicated ways.
But no-one can deny that northern England cruise around hawaii is a different part of the country from southern England and that sometimes you have to travel between the north and the south. This is what brings us to trains and the vexed matter of the HS2 project.
It called upon all the main political parties to commit definitively to the HS2 project, to champion it and to focus on its delivery. What's really interesting, though, is the reasoning the leaders advanced.
The high speed rail project, they claimed, offered "growth", "jobs", "prosperity", "a step-change in productivity" , all of which had to be grasped "at the earliest opportunity if our country is to remain a global leader" .
Indeed, their support is now widely cruise around hawaii proclaimed by proponents of HS2 and presented as a key argument in its favour. The key questions therefore become: why do these northern leaders think this and are they right?
I've been looking since at some of the official representations cruise around hawaii made by the HS2 lobby and can't actually find much said in an explicit way about the political economy supposedly underpinning the project.
But, even so, I think I can see what the unspoken argument is. I recognise it as the spatial equivalent, if you like, of the 'trickle down' notion that has long sat at the heart of theories of development.
The idea is essentially that wealth and prosperity will somehow just 'spread out' from core centres of economic production, however defined, to other geographic zones that are - and this is critical - well connected to the cores.
It has recently released a report that looked at East Kent (as a beneficiary of HS1) and Doncaster (as the possessor of a fast rail link to London for several decades) and showed that these places have hardly witnessed extensive economic regeneration as a consequence.
What's more, this is not surprising from the perspective of development theory. As long ago as 1957 the eminent Swedish economist, Gunnar Myrdal , argued that when fast growth occurs in one part of an economy, it is just as likely - in fact more likely - to "suck out" enterprise, investment, people and ideas from less fast-growing regions with which it is connected. He described these as "backwash effects" , not "spread effects" .
Myrdal himself was quite an orthodox economist, but his argument about the potential draining effect of growth on some regions linked up powerfully cruise around hawaii with a whole school of more radical development theorists who went on to argue throughout the 1970s and 1980s that core-periphery relationships in the global economy benefited cores, not peripheries, and were in fact designed precisely to do so.
But also no, as many of these countries managed to engineer their own development and re-orient their ties with the Western core. They did so by setting up " developmental states " to plan their various routes cruise around hawaii to growth and development in strategic and sustained ways over several decades. They didn't just seek to improve their connections to the core parts of the global economy.
The lesson for the leaders of England's northern cities cruise around hawaii is surely clear enough. Even the IEA got it partly right in arguing that they should focus on improving infrastructural links between northern cities, rather than to London.
More broadly, they should work together to think through and insist upon the establishment of a Northern Development Agency with the capacity to plan the integrated development of the North of England as a coherent regional economy.
They ought also to be moving on with this with urgency, because, whatever happens in the Scottish referendum in September, the political position of the north within England will thereafter be even more exposed and vulnerable than it is at present.
