Anyone who has taken this cruise before, would you be so kind to give us advice on what excursions to take and those to avoid? This will be our 30th anniversary and we want to make this a special and unique trip since this will be the only time we will ever be in Alaska.
The one excursion that I believe is a must is the White Pass Railway in Skagway. We took the train up the mountain and a bus back down. The bus stopped in Liarsville where we had a delicious grilled salmon dinner.
There are so many interesting things to do at the other ports that it's hard to narrow down. In Juneau we took a floatplane to Taku Glacier Lodge. That was a really neat experience. The second time we were in Juneau we took an excursion to the Mendenhall Glacier, another worthwhile experience.
We went to Antarctica on the Infinity in Feb this year. I just loved the Infinity and the service and food were excellent. We have done Alaska but that was a few years back and of course the memories are fantastic and got us hooked on cruising. Alaska was our first cruise and now we just can't stop cruising. It is the only way we travel !
