Based on local interest for the upcoming Royal Wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton, The Fairmont uk travel Hotel Vancouver will be holding a Royal Wedding breakfast starting at 3:00am on Friday, April 29. The wedding coverage will be aired live from Britain and shown on large screens in 900 West Lounge. Breakfast will be a three-tiered hot breakfast platter (complete with the hotel’s famous scones) for $29 per person, including coffee or tea. Please note that breakfast reservations are required and can be made by calling 604.662.1900.

Prize for the best hat will be a one night stay at The Fairmont Hotel Vancouver, complete with Afternoon Tea for two .
In May of 1939, King George VI and Queen Elizabeth (the Queen Mother) captured the hearts of Canadians during a royal tour across the country by train, ending in British Columbia. The present Hotel Vancouver took 11 years to build (due to the Great Depression) and was opened in time for the royal visit at a final cost of $12 million. While in Vancouver, the couple enjoyed Hotel Vancouver’s hospitality overnight and opened the hotel on May 24. Just outside 900 West Lounge (in the lobby), you can find photos of the 1939 royal visit as well as a menu showing they lunched on “stuffed eggs and chicken supreme.” Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip most recently came to Vancouver in 2002 for the Queen’s Royal Jubilee. Her Majesty stayed overnight at The Fairmont Waterfront and enjoyed rack of lamb for lunch at The Fairmont Hotel Vancouver, presented by our very own Executive Chef, Robert LeCrom, and hosted by Canada’s then Prime Minister, Jean Chrétien.
