The Secretary will meet with Toledo Superintendent Jerome Pecko, area teachers and labor leaders and observe a peer panel review meeting at the Toledo Federation of Teachers Union Hall. Kimberly Lightford, Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, Chicago public schools CEO Jean-Claude Brizard and state labor officials, to discuss and celebrate the progressive education reform happening across Illinois.
Sec. Duncan will visit a Washington Lee High School in Arlington, Va., to meet with teachers to honor their service on the front lines on 9/11, hear how educators coped with the event and its aftermath, and also uplift teachers as the unsung heroes who have had to incorporate the history and lessons of that day into the curriculum for a whole generation of students over the last decade.
