There are multiple reports out of the UK today indicating that Singapore businessman Loh Lik Peng has bought Fergus Henderson 's financially insolvent St. John Hotel Chinatown out of administration, a process similar to bankruptcy. And no, this is not just another rumor like back in December when it was falsely reported that St John Hotel had closed. An employee at the hotel confirms to Eater that the business has indeed singapore hotels been sold , but no further details are immediately available. Inquiries have been made with the hotel itself, Henderson's offices and RMS Tenon, the firm that managed the hotel while it was placed under administration.
That said, Caterer and Hotelkeeper is reporting that Henderson and Trevor Gulliver "are no longer involved in the hotel," but that head chef Tom Harris should retain his post so it seems like it will remain open at least? Meanwhile, Big Hospitality teases that "[i]t is believed a deal has been made with regards to the future operation of the business further details are expected later this week." Both describe Loh Lik Peng as a Singaporean businessman who owns hotels worldwide, including in London, as well as a 25 percent stake in Jason Atherton's company JC Tapas.
