Just east of Cesme is Ilica, where the water is heated by hot springs and is allegedly crystal clear
Our next stop on our honeymoon is Izmir. Izmir is another port like Dubrovnik, that I had never heard of and wasn t too excited about. And then I did some research and ermergerd. The areas around Izmir are gorgeous.
Ephesus is an ancient city like Pompeii, slowly being uncovered. It is supposed to be very beautiful but considering we are seeing ruins the day before (Athens) and have an intense tour the next day (Istanbul), Mr BFT and I are probably going to skip this in favor of seeing the Cesme peninsula.
Just east of Cesme is Ilica, where the water is heated by hot springs and is allegedly crystal clear. If you follow me on Pinterest then you noticed I went a little Ilica pinning crazy last week. But, really, can you blame me?
We are going in April and our weather probably won t be as ideal as these pictures show, but we will make the best of it. I really want to take a dip in the Aegean Sea. And sip on a blended adult beverage in one of these thermal pools.
On our honeymoon cruise back in November, we were supposed to go to Athens but they were having violent protests discount hotel venice and riots so we were re-routed to Kusadasi, Turkey. I was SUPER excited since I wanted to go to Turkey all along and it wasn t on our original itinerary, but I had no idea what to do there. Pretty much the only option was hang out in town and shop or go to Ephesus or some other nearby historical sites. We opted for an Ephesus tour that included discount hotel venice the terraced discount hotel venice housing, and I have to say it was one of the best tours I ve ever taken I know you re excited about the castle and afraid of being worn out with ruins, but Ephesus was AMAZING. We had done the ruins at Delos (near Mykonos) the day before, so my husband wasn t thrilled with the thought of more, but he s been raving discount hotel venice about Ephesus since we got back. It s is so well-preserved, you can almost see the city as it was in ancient times. discount hotel venice They ve only uncovered about 10% of the ruins, which is unbelievable considering how much there is to see already! I HIGHLY recommend discount hotel venice it if you think you can handle another day of ruins!!!
Heather, everyone keeps saying Ephesus is a must-see but we are seeing so many damn ruins (Rome, Pompeii, Athens) on this trip that the chance to do something different is very appealing. This is one of the few chances we have to do something somewhat tropical. BUT, if weather discount hotel venice is gloomy or rainy then we will probably go to Ephesus.
I definitely know what you mean It s easy to become overwhelmed by ruins, churches, palaces, and museums while touring around Europe! I was fortunate to live in Spain for a couple of years while I was in HS (I also was born in Italy and lived there for 2 1/2 years, but I don t remember it!), and had a chance to do a good bit of sightseeing then. My dad, who has been all over Europe multiple times, would inevitably reach a point in our trips where he d heave a big sigh and say something like, Oh look ..Just more priceless art! So I totally get it
