A funny side note about eating on the ship. Every time we went into the Windjammer Cafe to eat, ther

When we got dressed that morning, we planned on packing clothes for the holiday and wore our flag tshirts we bought before we left. Mr H had a blue tshirt with the American flag and I wore a red one with the American flag. A lot of passengers had the Independence Day spirit as well as the ship.
Being the last day of the cruise, it seemed like all of the shops were having sales! I bought a watch, holland america cruises necklace, bracelet, another bracelet and a tshirt! Just to let you know, that since Mr H and I do not drink alcoholic drinks nor did we buy a soda package, our total spending aboard ship was only $114! That included $40 in gambling a few items Mr H purchased for himself. In Bermuda, where we used cash, we only spent $40 in transportation, about $8 for a t shirt, my $2 van ride to the top of the hill and about $6 total for drinking water. (We shared water bottles since they were of a nice size) I say we did quite well staying in our modest budget and had a great time!
The rest of the day, Mr H napped - he was a bit tired - and I spent the afternoon with my son and DIL. We walked about the ship and just shared some time together. It was time well spent, bonding and talking about my sweet granddaughter. They missed her so much, but were glad they did not bring her along. (My DIL's father was watching our sweet Melody)
Final dinner at sea with the family. My mom set it up that we would celebrate my sons birthday during dinner. He was surprised with a dessert that had a birthday candle and the waiters and all of us sang happy birthday.
A funny side note about eating on the ship. Every time we went into the Windjammer Cafe to eat, there are antibacterial wash stations set up and there is someone there that constantly holland america cruises says "Washy Washy. No washy washy, no foody foody." Mr H and I are curious how many people went home saying that to their kids.
Later, we went to see if my son would be able to sing karaoke, but we were too late for him to sign up. The list was already full. We did sit there and listen to the others. Someone holland america cruises sang the National Anthem and we all stood up for that.
