As if Ford didn't have enough problems, they also have to contend with the gift that keeps on giving: their cruise control switches. The company travel membership discount clubs previously recalled 5.8 million vehicles because a manufacturing problem with the switch could cause a short, resulting in a "thermal event" (more commonly referred to as a fire). Now Ford has to add another 155,000 assorted F-Series trucks and SUVs to the tally. The affected vehicles are all from 2003 and they include the seldom-seen Lincoln Blackwood pickup (above). Of the millions of affected vehicles, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration got 1,472 customer complaints and 65 reported fires. [Source: USA Today]
Good Morning from NH / First I'd like to inform you that I worked at Ford, Lincoln Mercury dealerships in management for many years and drove SUV's as demo. I personally own two (2) Ford Motor Co product (04 Sable LS 04 Explorer travel membership discount clubs Limited). I have experienced since ownership (15,000 miles @ purchase), that when I use cruise control between speeds of 35-50 mph it was go into a shutdown mode. The dash lights (warning) brightly tell me that my engine travel membership discount clubs has quit. At times it will automaticly travel membership discount clubs recycle and start itself, but most of the time I need to put in neutral, restart w/o a problem} and return to the drive and continue on my way. Please don't tell me that I'm not supposed to use cruise travel membership discount clubs between 35-50 MPH, I've been doing it for 30 plus years. Any intelligent technical answers to this issue? Local garage has no idea and can't duplicate the problem....don't we always hear that? Solutions please. Bob
On Ford's recall on the cruise control issue. However, they still to date do not have that one resolved. Ford was supposed to have the part to fix that last year, and then I was told November 2007, and now I just called about it, and was told it will be spring now. And to bring my F150 by a dealer to have the cruise control disabled because even if I'm not using it, it can still catch on fire in my driveway just sitting there. Go Figure. I think it's time for a class action lawsuit on this one, because they obviously don't want to fix what you paid high dollars for in the first place. They want to just disable it, and hope the problem will go away.
Jeff R, Did you have a Ford truck that caught fire? Do you know anyone who has? Your sacred Toyota isn't so great that this couldn't happen to them from a poorly manufactured part from a supplier. Stop writing your hate here, no one cares. Plenty of people have had quality Ford vehicles that have lasted and provided a quality ownership experience. As for Toyoturd4life, Get through high school and then maybe you can post (or at least pay attention travel membership discount clubs in English class). Nearly every post I read from you is filled with typos, blatant mispellings, run on sentences and incomplete thoughts. You can't sound intelligent if you don't correctly spell at least 9 out of 10 words you write and lose people in 35 word sentences. As for your name calling to David for being older than you, maybe if you were intelligent you would realize that you don't know it all and you can learn from those with more experience travel membership discount clubs than you. Your lack of experience both in the world of automotive and the world in general is an easy explanation for your continued bash of everything American. Perhaps you'd rather go live in Japan. You're obviously young, (very) dumb, and have never owned the products that you come on here to bash so keep your inexperienced, unintelligent, blathering to yourself. Do yourself a favor, spend your time doing your homework instead of bashing on people's livlihood huh? Maybe someday you can get a good job and afford your next Toyota.
#38 Bob...Ford had/has been using cruise control switches from Texas Instruments (the company who BUILT the switch that was recalled) since the 60s. Jeff...Ford owners/fans arent the ones brainwashed by CR. Look at the diehard Toyota fans. Ford constantly gets crap thrown at them by CR. Also, a really smart person would realize that Toyota aint perfect and has had their fair share of problems. And I wonder how many problems Toyota is still covering up. Ford vehicles catch fire frequently? You make it sound like every F-150 has burnt to the ground... I love all you Ford bashers out there. Oh Toyota is perfect even though the steering on my vehicle could fail at 80mph . Seriously, you bunch are the funniest people out there. Go out and research problems Toyota has been having. And research problems that were hidden by Toyota and were only recently released to the public. It is surprising. And I love how toyota4life makes it sound like every Ford vehicle is going to burst into flames. That is the kind of mentality that makes some of you import fans look completely stupid. travel membership discount clubs If I were you pal, I would look at all that info on your vehicle... Yeah, Ford sure is careless.
WELL, SIR DAVID BULLSHITALOT,all my toyotas are fine ,if these problems exist its bad ,but better than any ford product out there, you are asking me to look up toyota problems when ford has way more and worste problems ,thats the part i dont get,ok say toyota has those problems ,what does it say for fords mullaly who is in japan kissing toyotas ass for help ,if i were you i would protest, why would good ole ford wants toyotas problems as you stated, that just dont make sence ,and just think i would rather have all those problems you stated than ever drive a ford ,just the word ford give me the heebe jeebes ,hey does all ford products comes with sprinkler system?if not they should ,the next time you get in that ford make sure to put your I.D in a fire proof case ,they may need it identify your chard body,oh never mind they use the one teeth you have left,YOU travel membership discount clubs OLD GEEZER
not to rub it in toyboy, go to www.insideline.com and look at the service problems complaints and tsb's with your 4runner. pay special attention to the one about rust through on the frames. better check yours. then read all the complaints if you can stay up til 3 am. and the one about toyota travel membership discount clubs forgetting to put reflectors? travel membership discount clubs boy, if you do end up on the side of the road all sludged up with broken ball joints and a rusted out broken frame and it's nightime and no reflectors better stand far away from your heap. oh yeah, the rusted out frame; now we know how your imagination travel membership discount clubs transfered to a ford. and you fanboys have the nerve to comlain about domestics.
