Quoting working2gether ( Reply 4 ): Looks like the incoming flight from BRU UA 951 was N773UA. villa with pool and car for rent in spain malaga According to Flightaware, the next flight villa with pool and car for rent in spain malaga it's suppose to fly is IAD - FRA tomorrow 1/25/2013 at 5:17 PM .
UA is getting into a crunch with widebodies with the 788 issue. In fact, probably unrelated, but I see 762ER N73152, which was pulled from service and in MCO for an exit package is now ferrying to EWR 6877/25Jan, then sked on 134/25Jan EWR - ZRH . I guess they hadn't pulled anything out of the aircraft or painted over the name.
I agree that is the first thing United does when ramp personnel are involved in an aircraft to aircraft collision. The questions I have and the one the company has is: Where was the wing walker (hopefully they had 2 wing walkers) and why did he or she get the attention of the person receiving the aircraft villa with pool and car for rent in spain malaga letting them know they needed to stop the plane? The job of the wing walker is not just to stop vehicle traffic it is to check the wing tip clearance. villa with pool and car for rent in spain malaga I'm sure the company will be issuing a company wide bulletin reminding all ramp personnel of there responsibility.
And although form the picture it may not look like a lot of damage I don't think there is a single 777 pilot that would take either of those planes without them first have a extremely through and meticulous point by point inspection.
I spoke to a friend villa with pool and car for rent in spain malaga last night and apparently the marshaller did not use the right guide in line. It's still under investigation but from my time at IAD and watching villa with pool and car for rent in spain malaga UA planes pulling in, I can some days only recall seeing maybe one wing walker. I thought it was totally inappropriate but that's what happened.
I'm not a ramper, but can I assume that the 'guide in line' refers to that center line which is aligned with the nose gear, as the aircraft approaches the jetway? If so, how would someone be confused about which line to use?
The old United policy was one wing walker and every since the summer of 2011 the policy at the now combined villa with pool and car for rent in spain malaga United is two wing walkers in and out no exceptions. And if the marshaller did in fact bring the plane in on the wrong line then that all the more reason why you need two wing walkers because if SOP had been followed then MAYBE this accident would have been prevented. I know in the northern states we are trapped in this deep freeze (the high was 10 degrees F. and ORD on Tuesday) and you are tempted to stay inside till the very last minute and then run outside and meet the plane but even in this extremely cold weather you still have to take your time and follow SOP.

Yes you are correct. At some gates, there are multiple lines that can park different types of aircraft. The line for a 320 might differ villa with pool and car for rent in spain malaga from the line for a 777. It's done to ensure there is enough room on both sides to park the plane and to make sure it fits. If the marshaller isn't careful, not paying attention, or rushed, he/she could have guided the plane in on the wrong line and therefore cause an accident with wingtips hitting another plane.

The new policy is from the old sCO. Two wingwalkers on mainline; 1 on express (except on 170's). I always recalled seeing sUA with 1 wingwalker and wondered how could that be. We always had two at all times. villa with pool and car for rent in spain malaga I for one need two when pushing out a 737. Pushing out a widebody or a 757 / 320 is a lot easier for me because you can see underneath them (in otherwards you can see forward villa with pool and car for rent in spain malaga better) But a 737 you need all the help you can get and the second wingwalker helps.

If the captain takes way to long to run his pre push checklist, the crew will go back to the breakroom and wait till ops will call us back to push. Its too cold to stand around after you've stacked a heavy flight and your body starts to get very cold. No one will wait on a very cold day while you have a flight crew who takes a very long time to run checklist. And especially on deice off the gate. Call Ops when you are ready to push. Same as arrival. If Ops dosen't call on final and all of a sudden the aircraft is holding short at the gate, no one is going to stand out there in the cold 5 mins. prior.

Yes. We used to call it the "J-Line" (sCO). But now we call it the "Lead-In-Line" from sUA. At the end of the line, there are several stops according to aircraft type. You know pretty much beforehand what type of aircraft is coming to your gate, and you set up accordingly. So when the final marshaller takes control, he/she knows what line to stop the aircraft.
I was wondering the same thing. It's my understanding that there was change a year or so ago and two wing walkers aren't required except at certain gates. I do recall some of the pilots objecting to the change and predicting an increase in ground collisions as a result.
