The first trailer for director Joseph Kosinski 's ( TRON: Legacy ) sci-fi film Oblivion has been released.  At first blush, it s not exactly what I was expecting and I think that bodes well for the picture. Rather than a straight shoot-em-up actioner or a generic survival story,  Oblivion  looks to have elements of mystery and betrayal all tied into  Tom Cruise s  character, Jack Harper.   Olga Kurylenko looks beautiful even dressed-down and Morgan Freeman channels his own version of Laurence Fishburne s Morpheus. The all-white aesthetic looks sharp and clean against a backdrop of chaos and destruction and the overall design definitely has some nods to  TRON.  There are also elements of The Fifth Element , Minority Report and The Matrix presented in this introductory trailer, but  Oblivion myrtle beach oceanfront hotels looks to be something all its own. Thats why Tom Cruise s character can t remember Olga whatever her last name is character. For what reason the aliens brainwashed half of humnaity for I m notsure, thats just my guess on the plot anyway.
Tom Cruise playing Tom Cruise. Otherwise, it looks promising. I loved Kosinski s look for Tron, and it looks like he s continuing the style with Oblivion, so I hope it does well. Plus, Ms. Kurylenko is always nice to look at.

so i m about 90% i figured out almost all of the plot twists from that movie. i could be wrong but it was pretty revealing. I imagine this movie being like Moon meets Wall-e with elements of i am legend throw in.
Jack and Olga s character run some inane task of drone repair on desolate earth. Jack passes the time by absorbing lost human/american culture. Weeks before they are relieved from work strange things begin to happen. jack gets caught by morgon freeman s group in which he learns something revolutionary/extreme ie (human s lost the war never escaped and live underground in secret, or he is told he isnt human and actually alien/clone, etc) He either escapes or leaves morgan freeman s group. to find clone version of Olga s character crash landed on the planet. This event reveals to him that he has been working for the aliens the whole time in an attempt to find the remaining human survivors (morgan freeman s group) . Unsure of whether he is human/alien/clone with implanted memories he helps the remaining humans defend earth from the oncoming alien assault.
So far so good, but the aliens are a little myrtle beach oceanfront hotels tired. I wished a more melancholic and quiet character for this kind of desolate world and not this shit. It just distracts.

They are using the spectacle. slight action and mystery to draw in the audience for what I am sure will be some unexpected twists and turns. Kosinski had great visual flair in Tron: Legacy myrtle beach oceanfront hotels so it is nice to see more of it. All in all the lack of content for fear of giving too much of the plot away makes the trailer slightly droll, but puts it on the radar nonetheless.
Good, solid, visually exciting trailer. Seeing Cruise do serious myrtle beach oceanfront hotels sci-fi is always welcome, after Minority Report. Looks stylish and well-shot. Too much hate around here for a trailer that doesn t look half bad!

As much as people love to hate on Cruise, he s a proven winner; he s made some great films and most of the rest are pretty solid (he has flops, sure, but less than many megastars. Case in point Nicolas Cage, etc). It definitely looks better than M. Night s After Earth which is basically I am Legend in the future.
Liking this one so far. I am also one who wants to trust the After Earth trailer (but won t M Night s last good movie was too long ago for me to recall). But this one, it should be quite fun. Certainly has a familiar vibe to a lot of Cruise films, myrtle beach oceanfront hotels but still looks to be pretty good.
