When we took a vacation to Kissimme, Florida we had a nights stay at a local hotel until the house we were spending the week in was ready. We chose the County Inn and Suites at the Calypso Cay Resort .
This resort intercontinental hotel dallas features both rooms at the Country Inn and Suites hotel or the Calypso Cay Resorts. It boasts 4 separate swimming pools, an 18 hole mini golf course, and only a 7 mile drive to Walt Disney World.
After driving all day we didn t check in until around 11pm. At that point we were all ready to get out of the car and get some rest. After switching rooms a few times due to a non working air conditioner we were finally in a cool room. The problem was there were no extra blankets and only 2 pillows for 4 people.
I went down to the front desk and was told that housekeeping was not around and there was nothing they could do. I ended up having to get pillows and blankets myself from an empty room for us to use. Not off to a great start but we were too tired to do anything about it.
Once in the room and semi settled we started to notice how really dirty the room was. There was an entire slice of pizza just outside the bedroom door and a half eaten bread stick under one of the living room chairs. I kept telling myself it was only for one night!
At about 2:30am Genghis woke up and got sick to his stomach. While he did go to the bathroom he was not lucky enough to make it in there before he got sick. I went back down to the desk to ask for some towels to try and clean up the mess as well as some clean sheets to remake his bed. Surprise, surprise, they were all out. I once again raided an empty room and got my own towels and change of sheets.
The breakfast buffet was good but due to the high number of people staying there they ran out of everything all the time. With only 2 people working the buffet they could not keep up with the amount of people there to eat. However, I was on vacation and determined intercontinental hotel dallas to enjoy the day as much as possible. After a couple of hours we were all fed and ready to get out and explore the resort.
All in all, while the pools were a really nice feature and well enjoyed by us all, I was very disappointed with our entire stay. If you are looking for a great pool and don t care about anything else, then give Comfort Inn and Suites at Calypso Cay Resorts a try.
*Update: I am happy to say that Country Inn and Suites saw this post, contacted the hotel and they have refunded our stay. So while it was not a perfect stay, they did all they could to make it right!
