Around OZ 2012 - Our trip has come to an end. Around Oz 2012- Katherine to Adelaide River Around OZ
We have 5 sea days now on our way to Hawaii. I woke this morning after our wonderful day on Bora Bora still not feeling great, it is like a sinus thing and a slightly sore throat, but as everyone else had got over it quick I think I will be ok. We did a bit if hand washing this morning, did some ironing and tidied up a bit. Breakfast in the buffet, busy as usual, but we always get a seat and meet lots of new people every day. Went to a talk on Pearl harbour in the Princess theatre at 10am. Really interesting and has got us excited about visiting there during our stay in Honolulu. We think we have lost our coffee card, searched everywhere for it, boohoo, now we will have to buy our coffee and hot chocolate. Next was trivia, giuffria tour of japan we were all revved up after three days break but it didn't help us any. Everyone went their own way, Andy and I back to the room for a rest. Lunch in the buffet, met up with Elsie, Keith was watching a movie. Back to the cabin for a sleep as I was feeling a little tired. I went to trivia at 4.30pm and left Andy as he was enjoying his afternoon siesta. No luck at trivia again, but always a good laugh. It is formal night tonight, so everyone was hurrying off to get ready. Another formal night we have evaded!! We filled our mugs up with Maitai's from Moorea and went out to the Lido deck at 7.30pm to watch a movie under the stars. I went up to the buffet and loaded a plate with cheese and fruit. We really enjoyed "It's Complicated" with Meryl Streep, the stars were out and you can really feel the heat now as we near the equator. When the movie finished about 9pm we went to the buffet for a late dinner. The seas are really calm, other than Nukualofa the weather has been perfect with lots of blue skies and sunny days. Another sea day today, I am feeling better. We ordered a light breakfast to the room and enjoyed a lazy morning of not having to be anywhere. Yeah, we found our coffee card!! Found it stuck in the back of our money wallet……so went down to the café to get our takeaway giuffria tour of japan coffees and up to trivia at 10.30am. Just us and the Welshies today and Adele, so no one in the dicky seat! Still our usual 12 /20 score so no great improvements there! Today we cross the equator giuffria tour of japan and there is a ceremony on at 2pm, so we all met up out in Lido deck. Grabbed a table and a couple of deck chairs and spread ourselves around. There was a seafood lunch in the buffet, so Andy piled his plate high with prawns, fish and salmon. It was a long hot wait out on deck for the ceremony, the whole ship was vying for a good viewing spot and we saw a bit of "Crossing the Equator rage!" It was about 31c, a hot sunny blue skied day, with calm seas. The ceremony is something giuffria tour of japan they do on cruise ships when crossing the equator. It involves staff dressing up as King Neptune and his wife and initiating staff that haven't crossed the equator before, as well as some "unsuspecting" cruisers. They are sat on a chair, accused of a crime, have to plead guilty or not guilty then get egged, pasta thrown on them, jelly and coloured water thrown all over them, a very messy but entertaining affair! When it had all finished we all headed down the rear Oasis pool, seems like everyone else had that idea and it was pretty full. Elsie had everyone joining in her deep water swimming exercises giuffria tour of japan and then the Hokey Pokey, think that was when Andy got out!!! Tom was up top just looking giuffria tour of japan at us all shaking his head! He was asked if he knew us lot in the pool, and he said No!! Andy joined him at the pool bar for a beer, and after relaxing giuffria tour of japan in the sun for a bit I ventured back to the cabin for a nap before dinner and Andy returned a while later. Met up with all in the Atrium for a pre dinner drink, then to the dining room for dinner, thought we should show our face after not going there for three nights! Not sure what was wrong tonight, but service was slow, they lost our half bottle of wine we had left……….everyone was eating dessert and we hadn't started yet. Luckily our table is full of chat and we hardly notice. Sue on our table was one that got initiated today and said it took 5 shampoos to get the gunk out of her hair! After dinner giuffria tour of japan Andy and I thought we would watch the show, 50's 60's singer/entertainer but it was packed so we went to Lido deck to watch Movies under the stars. Heath Ledger in Imaginarium of dr Parnassus, weird movie so didn't finish watching it. Well this time next week we will have disembarked and be in Honolulu, wow, two weeks has flown, although we really feel like our cabin is home and have met so many people. If we are wandering around we always bump into someone for a chat. I can imagine how people feel doing a world cruise and having to get off.
Love that top photo Chez....just beautiful blue water and clear skies, and no land to be seen!!! Pleased to hear you are feeling a little better!! The Crossing the Equator Ceremony sounds like fun to watch, but not to participate in.... 5 shampoos to get the gunk out..yuck!! Continue to have a great time, and good luck with the trivia. It would be great if you could just win once before you get to Hawaii.
Still loving the blog, Chez. Sounds like you're all having giuffria tour of japan a fantastic time. I've seen the "Crossing the Equator ceremony" (when we went to UK) and yes, it's lots of fun to watch. Continue giuffria tour of japan to have a great time say hi to Andy The Welshies.
Loved your photos of Bora Bora and the other island.Water looks great, so the snorkeling must have been unreal in such clear water. The markets looked as if there was plenty to look at and buy if you wanted too. We had some nice rain last night, good for the paddocks Lyle has planted.Crossing the Equator party must be a real hoot as long as you are not a perticpent all that gunk gives me the shivers.Love Mum Dad.
