It's been a while since I've written a post, but I'm back! For now... with the wedding coming up in about 4 months, enterprise rent a car coupons might be a little difficult enterprise rent a car coupons to keep up-to-date, but I digress! For this post, we move back out of Waikiki and visit a restaurant in Honolulu's urban core. This hip, new restaurant is smack dab in the middle of Chinatown and is a short 5-10 minute walk from the huge corporate HQ's for First Hawaiian Bank (BNP Paribas), Bank of Hawaii, and so forth. Parking can be an issue as the restaurant doesn't have it's own lot. You'll have to find street enterprise rent a car coupons parking or park in a private or municipal lot. Parking rates in Honolulu are pretty steep, but there are some bargains enterprise rent a car coupons out there. If you decide to go to Lucky Belly for dinner rather than lunch, parking in municipal lots are flat-rate $3 after 5:00PM!
So what exactly is Lucky Belly? It is first and foremost a trendy ramen restaurant. That's to say, they do their own thing here and don't stick to traditional recipes. They also offer a variety of starters, salads, and small plates, depending whether you dine at lunch or dinner. Lunch has a smaller selection of starters, salads, and some small plates in addition to the ramen selections. Dinner, on the other hand, has a lot more appetizers, salads, no small plates, and same ramen selection as lunch, but with the addition of one more bowl. They do also have a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages available.
On my one and only visit thus far, my fiancee and I went for lunch. We didn't have reservations, but we went kind of late, so there wasn't much of a wait. We arrived a little before 1PM, and they end lunch service at 2PM. Service here was cordial, but relaxed, and quite attentive. Everyone was very friendly, and the atmosphere, while a little noisy, was nice. So, what did we order? To start, the fiancee and I shared Shrimp Gyoza ($7).
This dish was DELICIOUS! You can really taste the shrimp in the gyoza and the edamame avocado puree was just divine! The ponzu, green onion, and sesame seeds all help to tie the flavors together, while the ponzu also adds some salt and helps to cut the richness. These gyoza are rather large, so while $7 might seem like a lot, it really was worth the money.
While there's other stuff on the menu I wanted to try, I really wasn't that hungry, so we decided to stick with the one appetizer and go straight into our ramens. For her ramen, my fiancee ordered the Shrimp Kimchee Bowl ($12). This bowl contains shrimp, kimchee, bean sprouts, onsen egg, wakame, sesame seeds, green onions, ginger, and a dusting shichimi. I didn't try hers because I don't care much for spicy food, but she was happy with it.
For my ramen dish, I ordered Belly Bowl ($12). The Belly Bowl is a pork lover's enterprise rent a car coupons dream. It has a tonkotsu style broth, and is served with pork belly, bacon, sausage, onsen egg, bean sprouts, wakame, sesame seeds, enterprise rent a car coupons green onion, and ginger. This dish was delicious, but heavy... Very heavy! The only thing that disappointed me was the fact that the bacon added a smokiness, which is nice at first, but totally kills the tonkotsu broth flavor. Nevertheless, there's so much pork in this dish that the pork flavor never hides. Is that a bad thing? I don't think so!
While $12 might seem like a lot for a bowl of noodle soup, it really isn't. These bowls are enormous and I had a hard time finishing mine! Would I go back? Yes. I especially want to go for dinner one day and try the Duck Breast Tataki ($9) and the Beast Bowl ($14), which contains enterprise rent a car coupons brisket, short ribs, and oxtail wontons!
