It was exciting to see and hear Windows programming icon Charles Petzold speak. Like we did at Devscovery Denver, we gave everyone a Data Dynamics t-shirt and took a group photo that had to span 3 shots because there were so many people!
In addition to the conference we also took the opportunity to tour NYC. We stayed at the Wellington Hotel, on 7th avenue and 57th street. It turned out to be a really great spot to base our touring, the conference was only a couple blocks away, central park was just to the north, Times Square to the south, and a subway station was right on the corner as well.
When we arrived I was able to get my room right away while Chapel and Eric had to wait, even though they paid for early check-in and I didn t go figure After stowing our luggage we walked around town for a bit, grabbed some lunch then went back to the hotel. A little later that night we went out again, this time I brought my camera and we headed to Central Park, then walked down Columbus Avenue to about 70th street before turning around and heading back into the Times Square area and finally back to the hotel.

We left kind of late so by the time we got there it was already starting to get dark. We got ourselves off the tourist loop a little bit and I was a little concerned about the area we were in, but fortunately we made it back to the well lit tourist cheapest international airline tickets area and I was no longer worried.
