Try a cottage on a lake, the mountains of just about any state, although I would go for the eastern mountains with the trees they have. IF you can get reservations, the old hotel on the south rim of the Grand Canyon, One of the fishing villages in the north east, or the Outer Banks of North Carolina. What ever you do, try to stay away from the vacation crowds. There is a hot springs resort near San Francisco that is really nice. If you can do any hiking, or don t mind a bit of a bumpy, dusty ride, there are hot springs that offer privacy, and relaxation in California, and western Nevada. While I would suggest Yellow stone, I don t like the idea that most of it sits in the caldera of an ancient, dormant discount hotel rate only, mega volcano.
A nice hotel is at least €150 per night. You can eat very well on €50 per day (don t forget breakfast and afternoon coffee). discount hotel rate Transportation on the Metro trains will be about €10 per day. Airfare depends on where you re coming from. From London, maybe £150. From San Francisco, at least $1,200.
Not knowing your budget makes answering this question very challenging. Hotels, like apartments are expensive in SF. Most places are going to charge in excess of $100. Room rates are subject to 14% room tax. Parking is extra so if you don t need a car, don t bring or rent one.
My favorite SF hotels are run by Joie de Vivre. Each of the hotels has its own unique style and are intimate and welcoming. They have several hotels located near the big hospitals [Laurel Inn, Kabuki, and Hotel Tomo].
discount hotel rate I am going to be in the San Francisco area next month but only for the weekend, discount hotel rate so will I have enough time to see the redwood forest, the Winchester house, the Fairmont hotel, and ride a trolley around the downtown area? Also, are there other places that I should definitely see if I only have a weekend there?
If you are near Union Square/Market St area, you can use the Cable cars ($5 round trip) to get to Fishermans Wharf. You can also use the F trains that run along Market. They will take you there as well for $1.50.
