As airlines cut service to Caracas and Venezuela struggles with a continuing debt crisis, the government of President Nicol s Maduro revealed that it would raise all international airline ticket prices by 350%. The measure should allow to pay part of the 4 billion dollars owed to foreign airlines, according to the government.
The executive president of the Venezuelan Association of Airlines, Humberto Figuera revealed in an interview with a local television station that beginning July first airlines will calculate photos of adam mark hotel in houston the price of the tickets at the country's weaker Sicad II exchange rate of about 50 bolivars per dollar, one of the four exchange rates that exist in the country. The official rate is of 6.3 Bolivar to the dollar.
The new measure is a setback in the pockets of Venezuelans, who will have to pay more than triple if they want to book an international flight in Bolivares. photos of adam mark hotel in houston This is due to the different rates for the U.S. currency, whose trade is allowed only to the Venezuelan government since 2003. Simultaneously, the measure could increase available seats if airlines decide to offer different seating price range, a possibility that had practically disappeared so far this year.
Currently the airlines sell seats in local currency at the rate of 10.90 Bolivar per dollar, a marker set by the government so that some firms can import supplies, auto parts, components photos of adam mark hotel in houston for the petrochemical and chemical industry, electric, needed for their operation. That subsidy, which benefited local and foreign travelers who would rather take a flight to Caracas and then buy a ticket taking advantage of the exchange rate differential, ended up being a problem for companies, as cash flow problems became increasingly worse.
The government refuses to raise the price of gasoline for the domestic market photos of adam mark hotel in houston a subsidy of approximately 12 billion dollars annually and sells its oil in unfavorable conditions to Caribbean countries. Since 2012 the government has not timely delivered currencies for repatriation of income and profits of international airlines, photos of adam mark hotel in houston which are estimated at nearly 4 billion dollars.
Finance Minister Rodolfo photos of adam mark hotel in houston Marco Torres announced the deal, which will allow six Latin American airlines, including Colombia's Avianca and AeroMexico, to repatriate revenue from local sales in 2012 and 2013.
The debt deal was reached in a closed-door photos of adam mark hotel in houston meeting with representatives of the airline industry. Alitalia of Italy and Panama's Copa this month became the latest airlines to cut flights to Venezuela, citing the debt impasse.
The deal announced Monday came just a few days after President Nicolas Maduro denied that airlines are leaving over debts, arguing that some are temporarily rerouting planes to meet surging demand to travel to Brazil for next month's World Cup.
Air Canada and TAP of Portugal are among other airlines that have reduced flights to Venezuela in recent months, citing the repatriation problems spurred photos of adam mark hotel in houston by a shortage of dollars. Several US carriers have restricted ticket sales, making it difficult to find seats on remaining flights out of the country.

Four exchange rates in the country, photos of adam mark hotel in houston are you joking? How on earth can you do business in that country if you don t know what exchange rate is being used. Do you just say it is tuesday so the rate is X? It is friday so the rate is Y
Venezuela cannot pay it s previous debts to the airlines, threatens the airlines if they cut service for non-payment ( which some have done despite the threats ), raises photos of adam mark hotel in houston the international fares by 350 %, and blames it all on the World Cup.
Eventually, foreign airlines will not longer operate in Venezuela, because not only fly tickets are at high price, but once in Venezuela the traveled can not find the basic food items such as milk, eggs, butter and most cases bread.
The announcements of imaginary plots and conspiracies appears now to be a scheduled, daily event by the Maduro government, which must keep the Cuban minders and pulp fiction photos of adam mark hotel in houston writers very busy. It is no doubt hard to keep up with these fantasies spewing out in such volume, and keeping a straight face.
When coupled with the other announcements, such as the topic of this thread photos of adam mark hotel in houston article ( 350 % increase in international flights ticketed from Venezuela ), one wonders how the government has any time left to perform any normal, daily business for the country.
Repeated photos of adam mark hotel in houston phrases of we will release the information on this plot, more information is forthcoming, I will show proofs, and I ve ordered so-and-so-lackey to release the information, which ( -wait for it- ) never comes !
When Chavez died Madman said that he would offer concrete proof that the US had something to do with his death. Within weeks. Still nothing. This air fare crap is so that he can try to prevent the citizens from leaving his hell hole. Wonder how many prisons are being built to hold all the plotters?? And soon there won t be any airline flying there anyway.
Anyway, regardless of the internal mess, I think that if the ignorant photos of adam mark hotel in houston majority of voters had enough sense to realize who the idiot MADuro really is, they wouldn photos of adam mark hotel in houston t have voted to continue with all this Bolivarian photos of adam mark hotel in houston shit, and again, if they wanted to leave, they wouldn t need to fly out, they could just cross the border into Colombia or the ex-British Guyana, provided the latter were willing to let them in...
Venezuela photos of adam mark hotel in houston has about 3 or 4 domestic airlines. It currently maybe more or less. They don t always fly all the time so it is hard to know which ones are still in business or not. Or have just closed the shop for a few weeks....
Back in January this year, after being unable to get an internal flight photos of adam mark hotel in houston from Merida to Caracas, I tried to get a coach. Yet they only sell tickets on the same day for the night bus. I had to queue from 07:00 until 11:00 only to be told they were not sure the bus would run. Come back at 15:00 they said. I did, but no joy.
At each State border crossing I had to pay a bribe to the fat, lazy Police/Army photos of adam mark hotel in houston because they found a fault with my Passport/Innoculation Record (no innoculations needed for my journey). Call it Gringo Tax if you like.....
I used to have employees in Venezuela and pay tax, now I have closed my businesses and have been tragically forced to make some people homeless. MUCH AGAINST MY WISHES! I still send these ex-employees some cash when I can... because they were loyal.
@17, what a disgusting state of affairs....don t envy you at all, feeling like you want to kill all the SOB s but are powerless. VZ will only stop going down the drain once all Chavistas are killed or kicked out of the country. The former is probably a better option...definitive.
Thanks Jack. It is certainly frustrating. I just have to concentrate on what I am doing in London, and do my best to get the family out. Which is difficult when the administration say the do not have the materials to produce passports.
