The biggest sore point was the blow to the local economy. And outside airline came in (Mesa) and basically put them out of business. Many locals that were employed by Aloha were left without work and the # of flights between the islands (which locals and tourists rely on) dropped.
I remember going to Hawai'i as a kid; always on the same 8am DC-10 "Spaceship" from SFO .
