Vowing to be the best supergroup ever assembled, Gayngs have decided to take their show on the road

Okay, can we please just stop qualifying things as druggy for a little while? I mean, I m feeling a little over-saturated here. Seems like anything the least bit unfocused or zoned-out qualifies these days. If Bob Dylan was zoned-out and Pavement was pretty unfocused, then my last shave was druggy as fuck. Heck, my damn ride to work this morning was pretty druggy, if you ask me.
So yeah, I m done with it for a little while, I think. Even if the name of your band is The War on Drugs, I ll be damned if i m going to call you a druggy band. Something else will have to do. Even if your debut record was emphatically tagged as drug-rock by a transcendent ( TMT Review ), I ain t falling for it this time. Even if your new mini LP, entitled Future Weather (dropping October 26 in the US via Secretly Canadian and TBD in the UK), is all about the blurred edges and overexposed limitations of analog tape and the fucked-up washes and drones and tones and textures of the abyss, I m not gonna go there. I ll call it spacey or experimental or expansive or something. Heck, I ll even go so far as to call it pop music. alaska seaplane tours I ll call it that all day long, damnit. And you ll sit there and like it. Hippies.
Vowing to be the best supergroup ever assembled, Gayngs have decided to take their show on the road this fall and bring their message to the masses. Ten of the twenty+ contributors from their debut Jagjaguwar album Relayted ( TMT Review ) will be in attendance on the tour, including Justin Vernon and Mike Noyce of Bon Iver, ringleader Ryan Olson, Zak Coulter and Adam Hurlburt of Solid Gold, Jake Luck of Leisure Birds, Ivan Howard of The Rosebuds, Brad Cook and Joe Westerlund alaska seaplane tours of Megafaun, and Mike Lewis of Andrew Bird and Happy Apple. Ha! Take that, Chickenfoot, Emerson, Lake, Palmer, and Tinted Windows!
Did it totally shock you earlier this summer when it was revealed that Wavves will be opening for Phoenix and Dirty Projectors at Madison Square Garden on October 20? I think Nathan Williams himself was even a little surprised. Apparently Phoenix are just as curious as we are to see how Wavves will function in a large-scale venue, just as we were curious about their large-scale studio venture, King of the Beach ( TMT Review ), as Phoenix ve decided to add seven more shows with Wavves to extend their fall tour down the East Coast. Or maybe Thomas Mars just really wanted to pick Williams brain about the art direction for Wavves new video for Post Acid.
Seems like Low haven t had this many dates in a row in awhile, but you can t really blame them. Based on my ridiculous preconceived notions, Alan Sparhawk spends most of his day gazing wistfully out a window, all the while occasionally sipping from a glass of Drank . Not much time for touring with a schedule like that. But, evidently, a wild hair has struck the band, as the long-running slowcore group is going on tour. Most of the dates hit Europe, but there are a few Australian and New Zealand shows in the itinerary, along with a single North American alaska seaplane tours date at the tour s tail end. If you see a slower show this year, Sparhawk will personally refund your ticket purchase. Offer not valid anywhere.
Asobi Seksu are busy recording a new album, but they re taking some time off to shoegaze their way across the Middle West this September. Details are scant about the album, but in a recent Filter interview, the duo promised more rock and more guitars.
alaska seaplane tours Jonathan Meiburg from Shearwater and Damien Jurado are both sensitive dudes, alaska seaplane tours so it makes sense that they would team up together for a US tour this fall, Shearwater supporting their recent The Golden Archipelago ( TMT Review ) on Matador and Jurado slingin his equally new Saint Bartlett ( TMT Review ) on Secretly Canadian. What doesn t make sense, though, is the see who can be quiet the longest contest that they seem to have decided to both participate in during their tour. Guys, I know both of your singing voices barely register above a whisper, but is this really necessary? My money is on Jurado, as I m pretty sure Meiburg will immediately lose once he lets out his bellowing baritone every night.
