But I wanted to see for myself what the fuss was all about, just why these high-end motorized marvels have such allure. As luck would have it, the auto show folks were willing to accommodate me -- to a point.
"This is jewelry that you drive," quipped Richard Bell, brand manager for Lamborghini Troy, which supplied several cars to the Million Dollar Motorway. He let me ride wide-eyed in the passenger seat while maneuvering the impressive Lamborghini and Spyker sports cars into position at DeVos Place earlier this week.
"This one" happened to be a $218,225 Bentley Continental GT Speed with a 600-horsepower W12 engine, six-speed automatic transmission, push-button ignition and luxury extras a shlub like me could only fantasize about. Heck, I could feel my insurance rates going up just sliding in behind the wheel.
