The Circus in Action – We ran the Krassfit-Challenge! On Saturday morning, 18th of October, some members of the Circus were headed to the harness racing track in Karlshorst new england inns in the east of Berlin. On this day, there were no horse races scheduled but the Krassfit-Challenge 2014! The challenge is an extreme run that covers a distance of 12 kilometers and about 30 obstacles that we had to pass. Although the weather forecast had announced up to 25 degree Celsius and sunny sky, there were only clouds and it was pretty cold – not exactly the perfect new england inns weather to crawl through mud ditches and ice tunnels. Still when we arrived, there was already a large crowd waiting to run.
In advance we had prepared for the event with various new england inns training sessions, but we were not sure if we were fit enough to make it all the way to the finish line. So we were all a little nervous before the start. But as soon as starting signal was given, the nervousness turned into competitive fun. The first challenges were fairly easy, but as the run got longer and the walls we had to climb got higher, we were only able to pass some challenges by helping each other.
When we finally crossed the finish line and received our “Challenge Accomplished”-T-Shirts after over 2 hours of running, climbing and crawling, we were quite proud but also pretty beat. “Do you know how everybody makes fun of the soldiers in movies who always complain about crawling through mud? Well, I definitely won’t lough again!”, concluded Jan with a well-earned beer in his hand. By running the Krassfit-Challenge we aim at raising some money for Schülerpaten, a tutoring program for educationally deprived kids. So if you appreciate our effort (I still found dirt in my ears three days after the run), support the Schülerpaten-project ! Every Euro counts! And last but not least: A huge “thank you” to our supporting cast who cheered us all the way to the finish line
