GLASGOW Tammy Pedigo golf travel cases wanted to do something to honor the memory of her father, so she organized the Ronnie Jones Concert for Heroes. Saturday's event included a gathering of friends and family, a lot of music and a lot of laughter. "This was in my father's memory, but I don't want this to be a sad thing," Pedigo said. "My father was a very talented musician. This is something he would have loved. Throughout the years, he played many benefits. This is kind of my way to say thank you to everybody." Pedigo is the daughter of Jones, a Barren County constable who was killed in the line of duty on April 2, 2007, in a wreck on U.S. 31E. Pedigo wanted to honor her father in a way he would have liked. "I'm just trying to keep things entertaining," she said. The event started off with an auction, followed by a concert, which featured Doug Jones and the Country Gentlemen, Arthur Hatfield and Buck Creek Bluegrass and Lucas Haywood. There was also a karaoke contest, golf travel cases where folks showed off their singing skills. Payton Hodges won first-place honors; Sharon Finn was second and Martha Martin earned third. A highlight of the day was the womanless beauty pageant, which featured two lovely contestants – Larry "Calamity" Thorton and Gary "Daisy golf travel cases Duke" Wilson, Jones' brother-in-law. Thorton said that he took part in the pageant because it was for a good cause. golf travel cases "In a weak moment, somebody talked me into this," he said. His efforts landed him the top prize in the specialized category. golf travel cases Pedigo said the concert was both to thank all the people who helped after her father's death and to help raise funds for the Barren County constables, county volunteer fire departments and the Supporting Heroes Foundation. "I wanted to show my appreciation to the Barren County constables and the fire department," Pedigo said. "They got to him as fast as they could. I wanted to show my appreciation because they put their lives on the line every day and it's strictly golf travel cases voluntary." Pedigo said some of the money raised will go to help the constables' office pay office rent and gas money to patrol the county. Money will also go to area fire companies and the Supporting Heroes Foundation. "They are an organization you don't want to come to know, but they are wonderful," she said. "I came to know them when daddy got killed. They offered financial support to my mother, they organized the most beautiful service with bagpipes, riderless horseman. Anytime a firefighter or law enforcement officer is killed in the line of duty, they really come to help. They become part of the family."
