After about three hours in Bagnaia, we took a 20 minute bus ride to Monster Park, which gets it's name from the large sculptures that were created from massive stones carved in (what I would assume) the 16th century as well.
When the weekend rolled around, we were still in pain from Oktoberfest and decided to not travel anywhere. We stayed in Castiglion and went out to the bars a couple of nights. cheap u2 concert tickets These are the only worthy pictures...
Monday night, we start our planning for Fall Break, which begins Thursday. The thing is we won't have access to a computer come Tuesday, when we head north to Venice. My original plan was to just hop on to Kelsey's tour and go to two Polish cities, and then to Prague. When it came down to the last minute, I decided I couldn't part with The Group. We looked cheap u2 concert tickets into starting north from Prague (Czech) to Vienna (Austria) and ending south in Budapest (Hungary). We couldn't line everything up, and ultimately decided to go from Innsbruck (Austria) to Vienna to Budapest. We printed out our flight tickets, packed and went to bed around 4am.
The reason we made bets on Travis is because he doesn't believe in time. We all became a little concerned when 7:02 came rolling around and we were all waiting at the train station with no Travis. We then see a faint movement in the darkness and sure enough Travis is coming down the hill, bags and all.
After an assignment, we buy our water-taxi tickets, and hop on the boat. Venice is made of several small islands. We were staying on Lido. So we get to our hotel, where all schools are staying (but UT).
We get our room then meet up with the class for lunch at the pizzeria right outside. We take a small tour of our area/island, walk to the beach, and then we are given the rest of the day off. We get settled in our hotel room and hang out for a bit. I get a text from Kelsey seeing what we were up to. We decide we should cheap u2 concert tickets all meet up for Chinese food for dinner, which is down the road (we ended up eating dinner here every single night in Venice).
After Chinese, part of the group headed back to the hotel room to drink some of the loads of box wine (classy) we purchased before the trip (cost efficient). cheap u2 concert tickets I went with the other half, who bought a beer at a shop on the road and headed to the beach. After acting like the beach was cool, looking at stars and being cold, we head back to my room to see whats going on. I walk in the door and see John standing on the bed making people slap the wine bag, which is of course followed by drinking it. We all end up having our fair share of wine at our hotel room party and then get to bed.
Wednesday morning we head out at 8:30 to head to an architectural exhibit at the Biennale region cheap u2 concert tickets of Venice. This was extremely interesting and the 2.5 hours we were given to look around was not enough time. Several countries were included in this exhibit, cheap u2 concert tickets and each country had it's own building to represent its projects.
After spending a total of 6 hours at the exhibits, we were starving. John, Travis, Elliot and I got lost right outside the exit before finally figuring out where we were. We ate at the first restaurant we saw.
Once we ate, we were all exhausted, but a minority insisted that we head back to the main part of Venice cheap u2 concert tickets to find some bars (Venetian night life is surprisingly quiet). Of course we all agree and hop on a 20 minute cheap u2 concert tickets taxi back to main Venice.
After the bars, we all headed home around 2:30-3. We get on the dock to wait for the water-taxi, and this is where the night gets even better than it already has. Four rugby players walk in and start singing "1 banana, 2 banana, cheap u2 concert tickets 3 banana, 4 banana" to the tune of the beginning of the piano song everyone can play (with 2 people). We all soon join in and eventually everyone is up dancing and singing... it got a bit hectic. Here are all the previews I got...
We hop in a cab, and give the driver our hostels address. This place is called Doug's Mountain Getaway. We were expecting cheap u2 concert tickets some old dude named Doug who ran the place while taking care of his kids. Once we actually found the place (cab had a little cheap u2 concert tickets trouble finding it), we walked in and saw that Doug was actually a 20-something year old english lad. This place was awesome:
So the first night we are there we plug in our computer, hook it up to the projector and find a live stream of the Tech vs TCU game. We watch the whole thing on this projection cheap u2 concert tickets and some aussies even get in on watching cheap u2 concert tickets it with us. Of course we end up winning and go wild. We meet everyone up in the Mario Kart room and utilize it to the fullest, everyone in the one room. I'm pretty sure I destroyed everyone at the game.
The next morning we wake up, and feel like going snowboarding/skiing Stubaier Glacier nearby. We saw Doug, rented our gear, and headed for the bus. We have to take a gondola up halfway the glacier, rent our gear, and take another gondola closer to the top.
They told us we only had 3 hours to ski before they closed, which we were unaware of when we headed out. We didn't care, and just wanted to say we skied a glacier in Austria, cheap u2 concert tickets so we went for it, and it was a blast. The snowboarding was a little rough since the snow was a little icy/rocky, but I got used to it after a while. cheap u2 concert tickets We all had a good time and it was definitely worth the cheap price (around 50 Euro total).
We got back home around 6 and met up with everyone. Laura (the canadian) and John (the aussie) just got back from hiking an a-jillion meter high mountain nearby. We all ordered pasta and got it delivered before we started playing games in the living room. We played a creative drawing game and Taboo, which I was awful at. Everyone made fun of how bad I was, and I cried.
The next morning it was time to leave, and none of us wanted to. Everyone was telling us to stay at least one more day, but we already cheap u2 concert tickets had everything booked. They told us they cancelled all their other bookings once they saw this place, and I completely understand cheap u2 concert tickets why. This is where we met Aaron and Rene, who were travelling for 7 months and going to be in Budapest the same time we were. We exchanged information and planned to meet up later.
We then took a 5 hour train from Innsbruck to Vienna, where we walked about 10 minutes to our hostel. We were a little worn down by the time we got there and just wanted to take it easy. We went downstairs to the bar, drank a free beer, and headed to a sushi place that was recommended on our Vienna map. We ate there and it was amazing AND cheap (11 - 13 Euro). We then went to the bar and had a couple of beers before heading to bed.
We walked around the gardens for a while before Elliot and I went to the Upper Belvedere museum and Travis and John went to a cafe. I would have taken pictures in the museum, but of course they don't allow it. My favorite part of the museum cheap u2 concert tickets (as well as their bragging point) was the largest Gustav Klimt art collection in the world. He was THE artist of the latter 19th century. I guess I liked this part of the museum because they walked you through his life and his art on the way. One of his most well-known paintings cheap u2 concert tickets is "The Kiss" which is in this museum. Also, I like the realism paintings cheap u2 concert tickets on the top floor of the palace.
We saw that a symphony would be playing Beethoven and Mozart, and purchased the tickets there. We then went to eat at the sushi place again and then watched the symphony at 7:30. The opening orchestra was awful and sounded like eerie/creepy music for a Tom and Jerry cartoon. Then the main band came on and it was awesome. The pianist sounded cheap u2 concert tickets like 2 people at once.
We left the symphony and headed back to the hostel to have some beers before meeting up with Katie and Garret (Cal Poly) at a bar. This bar was the hardest place to find even though it was on the 'recommended' map. We decide there is no way Katie and Garret are going to make it, but sit and have a beer anyway. About 45 minutes later, they show up. We end up staying at this underground bar for a few hours before Elliot and I decide we are too tired and leave. We then see than the train is closed cheap u2 concert tickets and have to walk home (only about 25 minutes). Luckily on our way home, we find a kebob stand that is selling shaved meet, Austrian ranch sauce (dont know the real name), onions, tomato, lettuce and seasoning all between buns. This was the best sandwich I've ever had. End of night two.
Day three we wake up around 9:30 and head to Schonbrunn Palace. This is another palace converted museum. We first walked through the palace, which was less impressive than Belvedere, then to the gardens/park. This park was huge and we walked 2.5 hours through it without covering the second half. We did the Mazes and walked cheap u2 concert tickets all the way up the hill to Panorama Point, and then climbed the stairs to the top of the structure on the hill.
After Schonbrunn, we went back to the hostel, met up with John (who thought we were going to the zoo as originally planned, but it ended up being too expensive) and took the ubauns to Nachtmarkt. This is an outside market that has everything you can think of food wise, as well as restaurants. We had Wienerschnitzel (which I learned in New Zealand is not a hotdog, but thinly sliced fried pork, veal, or chicken) and fries. We planned on going to the Free Climb aquarium after this, but it turned out it was too late to check it out.
We headed home, rested for a bit, then went to the bar downstairs. This bar was always empty, but we actually met some girls from Oklahoma (Okie State and OU) that were pretty cool. We played pool and hung out with them for a while before Katie and Garret showed up and surprised us. We all drank together for a good while before I headed up stairs for something and got distracted by Elliot and Danni (our roommate from Australia) talking. I then annoyed them until John and Travis showed up and we all went to bed. End of Vienna
We took a three hour train to Budapest, Hungary. cheap u2 concert tickets We were a little sketched out and intimidated by our first impressions of this run-down looking
