This is beyond belief. I plugged random dates into Dollar's cities and towns in florida website, and in addition to the "base rate" of $347.13, they add the following, cities and towns in florida for an estimated total price of $1179.20. I'd stay home, too.
Try Hertz and rate code "DRIVE". cities and towns in florida Also check the rates at Hertz on Indian Springs Road which isn't far from the airport. One of you can take a taxi there quickly while the others are waiting at baggage claim.
I am not even sure 7 adults and luggage can fit into a mini-van. Whichever row has 3 adults is going to be very uncomfortable. And the luggage space in a minivan is surprisingly small - if you are not familiar with interio space in mini-vans go look at one first.
Is there a particular reason cities and towns in florida why you are flying into Phoenix? Might you just change your plans and land in Las Vegas? Even with change fees, it might be a wash in terms of costs if you've already booked your air tickets, especially if flying on Southwest.
My guess is that it's a LOT cheaper to see the Grand Canyon by renting in LV and just driving down and not really much (if any) further of a drive. Of course, if it's not the Grand Canyon you're cities and towns in florida visiting, then I don't know what to say.
I have concerns too about getting everyone and the luggage in. We're going to the Grand Canyon first which is why we're flying into Phoenix. The $500 drop fee is, I believe, because it's another cities and towns in florida state....I pay that even to drop it at the airport.
The Hertz location mentioned above is a good option. It's called Phonenix Motor HLE. I just checked it and it was $350 total thru taxes, etc for 3 days to LV 6/18-20. (RQ DRIVE didn't work). $300 if you have AAA. They don't have a separate charge cities and towns in florida for one-way, just the flat rate. Companies like Dollar that have branches only at major airports are not the best pick for one-ways. cities and towns in florida You might want to reserve one now, but look again in May. For example Hertz has a "get one day free on a 3 day weekend rental" right now, but it's only good until April. cities and towns in florida Once April comes around, they'll probably have similar for the next couple months.
I believe that Doug meant to say why not just pick one airport. I don't see anything negative at all towards Arizona in his post. It is alost always more expensive to fly into and out of two different locations, when you figure a rental car. Of course, it can save you a lot of time. I always look at lodging, cities and towns in florida air fare, and car rental far before booking any of the three. I start with booking my lodging first as most places that can be canelled with little or no expense.
Renting 2 economy/compact cars will always cities and towns in florida be cheaper than a minivan even in Flagstaff. There are daily bus tours from Las Vegas to the Grand Canyon that avoid some of the problems of renting vehicles.
Should have included we're also visiting cities and towns in florida Sedona. I've done the drive from Vegas to the Canyon...long.....and I don't want that after a 5 1/2 hr flight. I didn't find any company which would be cheaper for 2 cars vs minivan.
As for the car rental price, ouch that's a lot of money. The price DebitNM found is more reasonable. If you don't mind, post back and let us know what you decide. The drive from Phoenix cities and towns in florida to Sedona is really not that bad after a flight, cities and towns in florida so good choice there.
It's a 3 day rental, not 2 days. So the Enterprise deal is more like $600. With Hertz off-airport, you can get the van for $350 or two mid-sized cars for $400. But you've got the hassle of the 15 minute taxi ride to Hertz, cities and towns in florida and then back to the airport to pick everyone up.
Vegas to Grand Canyon vs. Phoenix to Grand Canyon is only a 50 mile difference. True, Phoenix would be a lot closer to Sedona than Vegas. It would probably cost you an additional 3 hours drive time to stick with just Vegas.
My point was about money, not the merits of various destinations in Arizona. If the OP is flying into Phoenix primarily to visit the Grand Canyon, then it does indeed make more sense to switch the airport to Las Vegas. The addition of Sedona complicates matters, so it's makes the decision harder.
Try carrentals.com . They offer several companies. I found a one way rental from PHX to Denver through them with National with no drop off charge. Then I went to National and rented directly from them. Also, keep checking. Car rental cities and towns in florida pricing can change daily. If you reserve directly through a car rental company, you can cancel without penalty. Sometimes, I cancel several times when a better deal becomes cities and towns in florida available. Good luck.
And if you get a larger vehicle like a Suburban, check with your own car insurance to see if it will still cover you. Credit card collision coverage generally won't cover anything cities and towns in florida bigger than an SUV or Minivan.
