So, the beginning June 2013 has been full of airline route changes and updates both here in the United States and abroad. Most updates have recently been loaded for Winter 2013. Thanks to our friends at airlineroute.net for keeping us up to date.
- Delta announced  another expansion of their presence in LAX. Delta is trying to make a mark in the crowded LAX-SFO market. Hourly service that now will operate with E175 aircraft instead of the currnet CR7/CR9 service. We were sad to see that it will be operated by Compass Airlines and not Shuttle America which does a fantastic job of running round the world airline tickets the hourly Delta Shuttle between LGA and both DCA/BOS. However this is a huge service increase from the current CR7/CR9 operation that they currently running as now “roller” bags can be brought on board and there is no need to wait for them to be brought up at the end of the journey.
- Delta announced a pull down of the Memphis hub and while it looked a long time coming we’re sad to see it finally take place. Memphis will lose nonstop round the world airline tickets service to some cities and see a reduction to others. While it is still a “focus” city for Delta it will no longer retain hub status.
-With the pull down of Memphis it looks like Delta is testing a few markets with non-stop service the most notable one is Philadelphia to Raleigh . While PHL is US Airways main European gateway hub and Raleigh a focus city (and former hub) for American it now looks as though Delta is looking to make it known both Raleigh and Philadelphia are cities it wants to focus on as well. Currently, Delta offers nonstop service from PHL to all DL hubs and international service round the world airline tickets to Paris-CDG. Raleigh seems to be of interest to Delta as they have over the years seasonally added service to LAX and recently announced non-stop service to Salt Lake City. With the addition of the SLC and LAX flights, Delta now operates to all of their major hubs and a number of “point to point” routes. Those include nonstops to Boston, Columbus, Indianapolis, Hartford, Orlando round the world airline tickets and Tampa. They seem to really round the world airline tickets be optimistic with Philadelphia as they’re entering the market with 4 flights a day with CRJs
- Delta also announced some changes this winter for the Trans-Pacfic operations, most notably moving their 777 and 747s around. Detroit to Tokyo 747 service will be replaced with 777 and LAX to Tokyo Narita will operate alternating with the 777 AND the 747. The Seattle to Shanghai Pu Dong route will change over from the Boeing 763 to the Airbus A330-200, we’re just hopeful that this will be with the new Hering “wishbone” seating configuration for a long haul.
